Pretty much this. The exact same thing was on the agenda some years ago, and as with so many other ambitious projects from PGI, it never went beyond the "Hey, we will absolutely make this!" stage.

This is something that has been talked about a long time ago. Before 2015 too, obviously. But PGI expressed an interest in doing it two years ago.

Oh, Jesus. For a moment, I was actually thinking "bolt on geometry" would be something to look forward to. You've just convinced me that this is going to be just like decals.
When we got decals, I was expecting classic Battletech decals as seen in concept art, and I was expecting people to make their mechs look awesome. Instead, we got a really mixed bag of decals, and 50% of all mechs had giant eyeballs painted on their cockpit, red lips painted on their ***, and other dumb stuff.
Given the kind of decals we got, and the kind of cockpit items we have, I suppose I should be expecting "bolt on geometry" like cigars, top hats, clown noses, afro hair, giant foam fingers and bacon armour. "lol, id love some bacon armor!"

I'd be willing to shell out cash for it, depending on how well theyre made.
If they're just random **** slapped-on mechs, i dont really care, but if its something like alternate skulls on the Atlas, Cat noses, maybe Battlemaster bubble cockpit, yeah, i could go for it

Best I can do is, "It's more likely than something like ammo switching". And if you listened to the podcast or whatever it was, it's not supposed to affect damage geometry, just visual. Like the Resistance Pack units, or the special geo on the Clan Invasion Packs.
its not ...never have english in my Schooldays ;-)
Thanks Jingseng understand me
im hope we not became a Clown Warrior Online, with Cigars ,Hats (and Problems with the hitbox ...has the Head with the Hat a greater Hitbox)..and hope only of more military Stuff ...Ammo Container, extra Armorplates, other Shilds by Centurion ,Banners

Hell to the ******* yes!! You read my mind. More afro hair, hulk hands, balloons. That's what we want damnit. Is it not Solaris, is it not a show and entertainment.
Hell, even on the battlefield I would rather have that than cheesy 80's tough guy decals on my mech. Who would actually do that?

Going through historical photographs and records, there is evidence for some sillyness on battlefields and even in death matches (e.g. gladiator combat). However, there seems to be good evidence that the overwhelming majority of soldiers engaged in military engagements and actual fights to the death did not in fact have balloons, ice cream cockpit items or clown costumes. It's sad, but it's true.
For whatever reason, previous Mechwarrior games have also neglected to include such classic comedy props, on the battlefield or in Solaris tournaments. That may be a second reason why some of us are not expecting it. If I recall correctly, Srin Odessa from MW4 didn't even have cartoon mammaries painted on her Daishi. Can you imagine?
Not to worry. PGI is probably going to deliver the hulk hands you requested.

In all seriousness, of course some people will go for silly whether you want it or not. And some will go for cheesy 80's tough guy look whether I want it or not. But that's the point. That we can do whatever we find entertaining and enjoyable. So chill you grouchy people.

well a lot of people are simple like that.
id rather pay money for actual content, but PGI never gives me that option
I don't think you understand what PGI is supposed to sell in a F2P......
This is a step in the right directions to relying on cosmetics being their main revenue stream, not an endless thing of mechpacks or paywalled 'content'

or if they will allow us to Scale and rotate the object as well, like Decals,
