Pay?
PGI has given enough FREE MC to buy two more.
They are paying you.

Only for those who can make the cut in events. Appalling as it may sound, there are players who are completely unable to.

Had a pair of spuds fill out a drop last night, UG! Both had Voip off. Neither could hear calls so, of course they went off to play QP w/respawn. Neither could do 200 damage across four mechs. They almost cost us the match but once they were PD in record time, we could wrap things up as 10 v 12.
Would not pay attention to typed commands either.
People, you do NOT need a mic, but you MUST be able to hear. If you cannot or will not play as part of the team in the team queue, stay OUT of the team queue.

I had a guy like that in Scouting once, we lost a match because he stopped to fight a pair of IFRs when he should be going straight for the dropship (he was the last man alive) as everyone was trying to instruct him over voice comms (he never replied but a few times seemed to listen). Next match I type in team chat and ask why did he not listen to voice chat... response is "I haven't played this mode in a year. Comms are disabled and will stay disabled, **** OFF". Words fail me.

PGI set the bar so low for Events for quite some time now. Only difficulty is how long people can stand the 11 others on the side they play on.

And it should not be any surprise how badly these 'pilots' do when put into a team environment and refuse to be part of a team. They get what they deserve. They can go derp on someone else's time and drop. These are the pilots that give the new players that want to be part of something bigger a bad name and put off vets from accepting them into the fold.

I know a guy who was failing so hard that getting a kill felt like christmas to him. WLR 0.69, KDR 0.16. He ended up quitting the game within about two months.

Communication is obviously OP . . . I mean, what is there to gain in listening to experienced drop callers, working as a unit, focussing on a called target, following team tactics and winning as a result . . . . honestly folk, I can't see what the problem is?

*Sarcasm aside*, I freely admit to not being anywhere near being a decent drop caller, but I do follow calls, I blindly move into a situation knowing I'm first to die, because that helps my team to win AND I carry at least 50t of top quality rock salt, insults and harsh words that could win a match by themselves . . . . and best of all, I share these qualities with all and sundry, because it's good to share :)

There are many things wrong with MWO, dropping with a close knit group of friends sets aside the majority of those wrongs; winning is cool, working together for the win is better.

I forgot to give this another bump.

With latest Faction Play event on the go, some may find it useful.

** Bump for visibility - it's been a while **

I remember when I first wrote this: so full of optimism and bright-eyed caring.

(Now I'm a just a grumpy, salty, auld git sitting on the front porch shaking my head at the "kids")

I am very upset that no one has posted that amazing video of Pug running into a wall while possibly a touch intoxicated.
