So your Mech was stripped of his armor and THEN a nasty Light removed your weapons. Did you thought, your Mech was brand new and armor has no purpose? Or, are you one of these guys who armor down their Mechs to fit more equipment because they think armor has just cosmetic reasons?

I do have some sympathy with this - as just a glance from a few LMGs seems to crit and destroy every piece of equipment in an exposed component. Perhaps this should/could be dialled back slightly?

so a weapon when boated is stronger then intended? who knew, :D

but that aside, if you nerf MG to balance mechs that boat 6-8 of them,
what happens to mechs with only 2-4 Ballistic hard points? them will suffer,
another solution has to be found that doesnt hurt 2-4 MG mechs,

1. cannot keep its lasers on target
2. doesn't aim for the legs.
3. doesn't twist
4. doesn't waddle backwards and/or turns counter clockwise to get the light out of his back

If 2 lights are killing you, relax. Imagine how fast 2 heavies or assaults would have blown you up

I will try to make this simple so that you can follow.

Issue isn't the huge damage...it is the auto critting. Crits are waaay too high currently. Seeing people running in and facehugging because they know in seconds the opponent will have no more weapons.

It is ridiculous. Crits need to be lowered.

It is the crit chance that is the problem. Betting despite all the people pulling to old get gud card, PGI is going to have to tone it down when they see how these chasis are 'over performing'.

The real issue right now is the insane arty and airstrike spam. LMG Lights wouldn't be as much of an issue if they weren't handed two 'remove all armor from those guys' buttons each match.

Come on now it's not like we have not had MG boats in the game for along while now (Arrow, Firestarter, Spider, Huggin, Cicada, Bushwacker, even the Roughneck), the OP's issue is that now the Clans actually have some so of course it's OP all the sudden. Heck at least they waited until they IS had streaks to deal with them too, see the glass really is half full.

So what, increase their damage to compensate?

We already have people saying "MG DPS OP!!!" and that would make it worse.

Surely you don't want a blanket nerf to one of the least used weapons in game?

I don't really think this is a Clans vs. IS thing. I mean, there are no fast IS 'Mechs that can boat 6-8x, but they'd be about the same if there were. Slight advantage to the Clan build for half weight MGs.

The really scary MG boat is yet to come (Piranha). No IS Light could ever replicate that.

seriously learn to hit lights like me, instead of saying their Op just because you can't hit them.


If your complaint is valid then my complaint that IS is superiorly op means ALL IS should get a major nerf.

Remove crit bonus, increase total rounds per ton to compensate.

MGs become no-heat weapons with no boost to critical but are more sustainable with more rounds to shoot to deal damage.

The problem isn't so much the high dps as it is the fact they can hit scan your internals mid twist which means there is basically no counter if you've down to internals. Every other weapon you can try to mitigate with twisting, but MGs make it nearly impossible when combined with their ability to pretty much insta pop criticals.

Crits can only happen when there is no armor. So your mech was heavily beat up, or had really low armor.

And somehow being beat up is supposed to mean "lights should be able to kill you with little no effort"?

I can have an open torso and go up against assault mechs because I know I can use some skill to help mitigate the damage to that area. I see a light with MGs and I know I'm losing that torso and probably about to die.

That just doesn't seem balanced.
