In Mechwarrior 4, its debut game afaik, Missile pods were their own destroyable hit locations. This includes the Hellspawn's strapped on box, the Mad Cat Mark II's missile ears, and even the Cyclops' eye (the cockpit was moved to the front of the chest).

Something that should have been done in MWO from the beginning.

If I hadn't already just bought the Thanatos package, I may have bought it. It looks interesting. Viable? Probably not, but interesting nonetheless.

Hello all,

Regarding sound mods, back in the hay day of IL2:1946, a sound mod was created which eventually extended to modding almost every aspect of the game. There was much hue and cry about mods allowing players to cheat online. While the mods did not exactly break the game, compatibility issues fragmented the online community and while some of the mods and mod packs are excellent and have extended the life of the game, the result is different communities using different packs with smaller groups of players, not the hundreds there used to be.

I fully understand PGI's reluctance to embrace user-made sound mods.

Good hunting,
CFC Conky

im pretty fed up with pgi right now. of course its not the first time and i always end up coming back and buying a mech pack. maybe i will keep my wallet closed this time. its clear they are not interested in making a game. im not even sure i want to buy mw5 at this point. il wait for the reviews and bargain bin release (if the reviews are good).

Personally I don't really understand why PGI has never designed in support for custom UI's and such. I mean WoT and WoWS have had them for years and while I won't say there is zero advantage from using a UI Mod, it is usually situational to the individual players in that they prefer a round circle with a dot in the middle to a traditional crosshair. Also if it is a mod that can be downloaded for free, no one really gets an unfair advantage because anyone could install the mod if they wanted to. All it really does it give the player more customization and a more positive player experience while encouraging community participation.

Same goes for Maps. PGI should release a map editor of some type and allow players to submit their own maps. Basically they would get all their 3D map work done for free and most everyone who designed a map would be happy with just getting credit for the design.

Tons of things PGI could do to get the community involved in improving their game but nope.

Pretty much sums up pgi since the very beginning of the forums as long as I've been playing the game. Google stuff and you'll find a lot of ideas have been brought up before unless it's some thing that has been added recently. Most of the time pgi does pgi's version of some thing people wanted.
