Nope. Leave it as it is.
A one trick pony. Albeit a terrifying one if it works.

And how could it work? By creeping up to small laser range of the enemy?

Dual HGauss 'Mechs can't really brawl either, unlike AC/20 and SRMs ones.

So your boating for a high ppfld.
You trade no heat for charge up, close range and chance to be easily critted and an abysmal weight / dmg ratio.
Hgauss is not a must you see. No one said it is "the weapon" to go for.
Maybe there are more competitive loadouts than dual HGauss for the mech you've chosen?
I can make it work, but it's not the 1000 dmg weapon, it is a quick ambush killer and up to 400m damage is decent if not good (with all the downsides it has).
+ if you hit lights (and you can) they just pop.
And yes it is creeping up to the enemy until you are in small laser range. (or wait till they come to you).

Why don't you want that you just need to creep up to medium laser/SRM range of the enemy so you can do more than 400 damage/match?

Well, you got me.
In the end i don't care if the range goes up.
Won't use it. Too heavy. Too easily critted.

More than 400 damage/match?
Insanity. Never. Potato 4 live.
