This Is Not A Brag Thread! But How Many Feel Like If They Don't Carry They Loose?

But why is it more often than not if i am not in the top 3, it's a loss.. Maybe it is not the case, but i swear it feels like that. Am i the only one that feels like that?
PS this is coming from the guy that first 100 matches had a .43 win/loss

I understand the sentiment, i really do. At least if your team lost, at least you sucked less right? Aiming to better oneself, that's okay too. Everyone sucked in the beginning, but people improve overtime if they let themselves.
However even at a range of 200 match score, and you're top 3, that's still under 200 match score, only the 3rd person closest to it. You might sucked less, but you sucked nonetheless. Instead of being the top player, hows about aim to beat your previous scores instead?
But did you have fun? Numbers are one thing, but if you're playing to win, not to have fun, then you are doing it wrong. The score i shown before you isn't the result of trying to 1-up everyone, it was just trying to have fun. And then one day, it clicked and i was able to do my best score on a ballistic Urbanmech yet.
Just have fun, and if you're flexible and learning, the good scores will follow you.

Don't feel bad over the on and off 3 + years I've been able to access MWO (from running at 15 FPS on a **** laptop, going without a PC for months on end from time to time etc: to finally having a beast comp and time to sink) I've logged about 500+ hours in the game and that's just on the steam client. So probably closer to 6-7. Anyway point being im still top of tier 3 in ranks and my matches go from "oh my god i did poorly" all the way up to " PIWT)*(&TYOI TYES!!!! YES!! THAT WAS AMAZING!"
I've typically only got one or two players I can rely on that i know well, but fail doesn't bother me too much, carrying feels like i'm ******* superman. However the games that I enjoy the most are the knock down, dragout fights or the ones where we have someone calling things properly as if he's an operator. One of those conditions makes the game a whole lot more bearable.
Though i do occasionally entertain the naughtyness which is the boated Heavy laser buttpoke of doom. That's always a smile machine.

You did over 40 alphas in a 5 minute battle? Or does this come with a huge "I did most of it with consumables" flag?

I got ten empty mech bays and no desire to buy any mech to fill them when I've got 80 mechs not including "The Chosen One Mech to rule them all" to play and use. Most of them are striped of everything but armor except the lucky few three or five mechs I roll with.
I'm half tempted to use my worst mech off the stats page just to see if I get death star with it during the event. teams are so t5-t4-ing it tonight I refuse to use "The Chosen One."

Lol no, maybe just one i guess.
The UAC5 has 3.906249999999999 EDPS considering jam, and at 300 seconds that's 1171.875 damage, limited at 450 damage with 90 shells.
I also had 3x ML which does 3.846153846153846 DPS, and at 300 seconds that's 1153.846153846154 damage.
Now adjust for coolshots, heat and the time it takes getting in range, and the damage falloff of the laser weapon. After all the loss is just about 60.39937984496124% of all the possible damage, that means i just need to be doing damage at 39.61% of the time of the same 300 second to earn said damage, which the 60.39% may account for the time it takes to get in range or the damage drop-off or even just misses, or adjusted by heat and remedied by coolshot. It's not that hard to get into action when it's domination cause often players are near the circle.
Yes 921 damage is possible with most of it done not by air-strikes.
Nope, most are my weapons. Believe me, I know how to Urbie UAC5.

That said, if this comment is being spurred by the event, I will say that I think this one has been pretty painless.

I got utterly shut down to the tune of 64 damage today, because a triple AMS Kit Fox on Crimson was hiding where he could shoot through the mountain with AMS and basically obliterate every missile I fired off.
Of course, the 64 damage I did was me getting mad at the AMS hax, charging in there and neatly coring the obscene little twit before getting shot to pieces by his team. But that wasn't the real story.
It was this guy, who calmly killed six of the enemy team all by himself after the rest of us went down and won the match with the best carry I have seen in my time playing MWO. So yes. If you don't come ready to carry, you do come ready to lose in QP.

It's doubly frustrating when you're in a mech with both inadequate mass or heatsink load to hard carry a team if they all go down too quickly. Which is what I'm always in - a mech with either hardly any heatsinks and a massive weapon load, or too many heatsinks and not enough burst to actually knock out mechs before taking major damage.
But eh, that's MWO for you. I guess if I do get salty, I throw it back at the enemy team with twice as much heat. -loads rocksalt into shotgun-

I partially disagree the said match up there ran nearly 10minutes if you can't even get a shot after 2/3rd of the match time is over then someone is doing something REALLY wrong.
So the better question is is there even a way to make the potatoes git gud?
Because I have that one friend who IS a potatoe in MWO and no matter how much I tried to explain him how it works he couldn't execute even the most simple things. So are potatoes a helpless case we just have to live with?
Do we need just a better rating system to prevent potatoes meeting the better players?
How does a potatoe only match even look like?

I rather drop with people that compliment well, understand basic movement and shooting than having a carry harder mentality.
After all the game is an team effort. You can see pugs doing that quite often (although the opposite is more common).
