Or we just had a CW event, so CW is quiet for a month after as people burn out for a bit.

Not the first time it's come up.

This is another reason AI needs to be put into the game, even if it is just to keep the matchmaking taking so long to find more players (put in functional AI mechs needed per team). I know part of this community are against PvE environment, but at least AI mechs would fill the role until then. IT would take time to make them skillful on the player tiers, but it is a really good investment.

If the population is declining (for FW?) at least the people left playing it don't have to wait a long time in the matchmaker to find a match... The last major few (player drop ships, etc) made for FW part 3 will not be completed, it would be far better to give the game some longevity (PvE / AI Mechs).

I can't get behind AI supplements or even replacements. An AI mech can't follow orders as precisely as a human can. They can't take the proper loadouts which can be fine-tuned. They can't hold before a push, or even push on time.

I'd rather wait for competent teammates and human opponents versus playing with an AI weighing me down.

I still think waiting 20 minutes for a ghost drop is a bit much. They need to decrease the wait time significantly and maybe, just maybe, increase the "pre-drop" time once in game....I mean, some teams actually coordinate and come up with a plan. Sometimes.

I hate wait's with a passion...however, at the moment it might be best if PGI doesn't look at changing the amount of time before "ghost drops". I have actually worried that if they do look at it that they might actually decide to go up on the timer to 30 min. Just as a way of motivating Mercs to pick a less populated side. I.e....if tonnage won't do it....well try waiting forever and beyond....

it might work in encouraging shift ...but would be brutal

Seems like even FW forum becaming ghost town after a weekend. At least for root and IS subforum. I've seen some activity in Clan's and Merc's ones.

TLDR: you want matches, go IS

I doubt increasing or decreasing the wait in queue is going to increase a match going to happen

I preferred the previous queue we had, like a year ago, we saw the groups that were in queue, both blue and red.

I looked at my friends list last night, and noticed (I didn't count so a guest-e-mate) 1 IS for every 9 Clan were online or deployed. So if you want matches, with the current population, go IS
ETA: minor update to my friends list, I am on 4 hours earlier then normal, but the numbers @ the time of this edit, are 2-1, Clan-IS online or deployed on my Friends list

My IS alt, still has wait times . . might reach 12 minutes, but gets a match within 1 minute on average. There just is not enough IS dong faction.

I do just as bad in a Clan mech as I do in a IS mech . . so it doesn't mater to me if I play Clan or IS . . but on a RP playing .. .I would be a clan, well more a merc .. it's just how I think and play (style, from a story point of View), and would think that's what others are like, or similar. The back ground about the clans and Mercs is more me, IS . . I would never liked or cared about , So I play IS to get matches

The tech is different, but not enough for me to just play one side, I feel it's fairly Balance, for MWO. it just that my primary choice is from the brief knowledge I have of the BattleTech Story (and it's very little). Also I have very little choice on the side I play, it's based on the discussion of the collective vote from the unit.


Guess what I'm getting (guessing) at, it's not just tech for the reason there are more Clan then IS, Clan might have more appealing background.

PGI almost always only communicate in 140 letters or less on Twitter (occasionally they will respond to things on Outreach:HPG subreddit). If you want to get the attention of Russ or PGI on an issue, you have to use Twitter. PGI almost never responds to their own forums.

You cannot expect them to give up the easier button for no wait times?!?

Give up clubbing for no wait?

Best thing IS can do is to not play and let the Clans dry drop themselves into boredom while we giggle at the complaints.

Sure - except the group I play with is currently clan and I have no interest in pugging IS.
Also, no where did I complain about anything; I was sharing how much fun we had :)

To be fair I don't really care which side we play on, i've been playing MW since MW3 on the "Zone" and am here for cohesive team play with stompy robots. So, IF, there were similar waits on the IS side i'd have probably posted the same thing about how much fun we were having. [shrug].

Some of us actually really like the idea of FW and this would do a good job of killing it completely, which we don't want.

Is there anyone at PGI in charge of working on keeping the game active and balanced? Anyone maybe in charge of FW tweaks or interest up? The more and more I think about it, the more and more I think FW is simply doomed because PGI is not addressing things. I love this game and the FW game mode, but it is simply broken and it could be so much better. Is there anyone other than Russ to get to about this stuff?

Derek James is nominally in charge of Faction Warfare.
Faction warfare is not his primary responsibility.
Last time he was heard from was the Jan 28 roundtable https://youtu.be/Zo-NNvo7Ftk

I wonder if we could talk PGI into hiring someone who is knowledgeable and passionate about making FW work from within the MWO community. I'm willing to get my plastic pitchfork and LED torch if you are!

All the "pro" units seem to be clanside avoiding each other, really bad sportsmanship play: spawncamping, strikespamming, meta hugging and trashtalking all add up to IS not queueing up so much.
