Last night, the team had 2 light mech's assigned....

Neither wanted to go to the circle...... They ran off as if this were a conquest match and the team asked over and over if they'd at least try.....no answer. No effort.

I was the faster non-light and I missed the circle by 5 seconds. Not a shot fired...... We were stunned?

Has anyone else experienced this??? It was a first for me and a vast majority of the team...

It happens every now and then, but I kinda think of it this way; would you really want to play a whole match with a team that cant play the most simple of objectives? It's kinda dodging a bullet if you ask me. Not that it isn't still annoying to experience.

Better to have that band-aid ripped off quickly.

Why didn't anyone else get in there?

The slowest I've ever gotten into the circle on a Timberwolf was 30 seconds left. It's not exactly a speedster in the heavy category.

I don't think I've ever had a 'mech that was so slow it couldn't make it to the dom circle before the game ended. So I've never seen this happen, because I'd personally stop it, even if nobody else bothered.

Was the entire rest of the team driving Dire Whales and Annihilators?

If you shoot the guys in the circle the timer stops, so you can't put all the blame on the lights.

If it's Polar Highlands, the other side of the circle is completely obscured. I find it odd that the team was so heavy and sluggish that the guy that was probably in a Night Gyr was the next-fastest person to the lights, but there you are.

Even a Night Gyr should still be able to make it to the dom zone in under a minute+the dozen seconds it takes the hostile light to get there.

Edit: Testing this, maybe not. Seems like it's 1m30s or so to the dom zone. The other team still has to walk there themselves, but I suppose if you're 65kph, there's one map you could possibly be too slow to get to. Provided the other team immediately gets on the point ASAP.

I think I've had one victory like that, no one from either team fired. Crimson strait. Many of us reached the circle while none of the enemy did.

Oh I don't often make it my job to get into the circle with light, as I have long range weapons. Plenty of mechs have enough speed to reach the circle as long as they don't wait for someone else to do it. The timer is really only important on FP, in QP the timer is never meaningful, as it's skirmish/nascar around the circle.

Yeah i've had dom matches the pug team just danced and waved from the edge of the circle while the other team won with a few mechs in the circle. As a light I refuse to stay in the circle without cover fire and abandon it asap when I notice team pug just wants to snipe from out side it. Free kill my mech isn't in that mode. i'll just blow the two gens and add the oh so helpful 30 seconds which doesn't mean sheet when team pug was sniping then died to a brawl push.

I've died a decent amount to this scenario, holding out for the hope of just one other teammate to step into that circle with me. I've often had some good knife fights before I go out tho, so not a complete loss for me.

Six months ago.

Freshly bought, stock, unskilled King Crab in my hands.

Map : Polar Highlands, mission : Domination.

I plod along at 44 kph towards the circle.

I reach it.

Nobody there.

I hunker down between two hillocks and try to aim at the bazillion red doritos running every where.

Miss every shot.

Don't take fire.

Nobody saw me, the big honking KGC in the open in the middle of the white field.

Game won, top damage score of the whole match was 52. Duration : less than 5 minutes, including the walk at snail's pace to the circle.

I was surprised, to say the least, that NOBODY except me even tried to scratch that circle.

Rewards were ludicrously low too, since I basically did nothing except move slowly in a straight line and stop in a circle for one minute.

Sometimes, the "I want to kill robits" mentally doesn't work.

I was in a match a few months ago that counted down all the way before our team reached the circle. If there are no fast mechs in one team then it's readily possible it's just that we very rarely see a match without at least one fast light on each team.

My gyr runs at 69.7. I was actually facing the azmith to the circle and started moving the second I hit the snow.. Missed the circle by 5 seconds.... The entire B lance was right behind.... the other half of Aplha lance was right behind as well....

Match making new revision was in effect. 2 lights. 2 slow mediums and I'm not sure what they were and the rest were Hvy and assault....

Was interestering but I hate losing like that....

Yeah, I've stopped sacrificing my 'mech in vain so my team can cower in cover without firing a shot. Grim Plexus is the worst offender, by far.

I give friendlies until 8-9 of them are within striking distance, then pull out if they all stop short. I'd rather not waste my time waiting for the loss.

it happens. when its a quick steal by a well placed locust thats one thing but when its lost to hubris thats another thing. like i had a game where much of the team was exploiting the fact that you could hault the countdown timer just by shooting the mechs in the circle constantly. there were calls to do this and it was one of those odd cases where the team was listening. of course while the team was trading the mechs that couldnt trade were hiding waiting for the support needed to advance, the enemy moved into the circle found cover and stayed there, and as soon as the one enemy that was standing in the open was killed my team had noone to shoot to stop the timer, and all the mechs were too far away to move in, and the timer got half way down before someone made the call to push. they won of course, the campers blamed the brawlers, the brawlers blamed the campers and the enemy claimed we were taters, and they were right.

I've had a couple matches where it got down to under 15 seconds, but never a match ending.

Crimson and Polar are the worst offenders

On occasion.

At it's core is the problem faced by most Light players in this game mode. Other players are always telling the Lights to rush the cap zone. Yet, always everyone else hangs back expecting the Lights to deal with the damage of holding it.

Long ago I said to hell with that scenario.

That's why as a Light player I never go anywhere near middle and strongly suggest that those mechs with the armour cap...

Their screams of outrage are really quite satisfying.

I've had a few where the other team refused to get into the circle and lost with 0-2 deaths, but never that
