You get sizable bonus for KMDD, more than simple kill. Besides, damage is very well rewarded in matchscore.

mwo pays more for damage/assist than it does for outright last hits.
you also roll in the dough if you bring a tag unit along and your lrm boats have half a brain and you talk on when to sinc fire on a target.

Still, if you feel the need for reporting, refusing to shoot the enemy mechs until they're cored red could be considered as assisting the enemy, and that's reportable. I mean, not sharing armor or timing for the last shot is an unreportable **** move, refusing to support your teammates intentionally is another.

That said, afaik, what's being described here is not a violation of the CoC or ToS.

Most players in quickplay are deadweight anyway.

People who complain about other securing their kill have the same issue.
Bottom line ... people that kill enemy mechs are still killing enemy mechs.

It don't break the rulez and IMO is a highly evovled game play stratergy.
Highest marks pilot.

Watching your teammates get shot at while you wait to try and get the last hit is a highly evolved strategy? Really now?

Unfortunately, hanging back, "using the PUGs as meatshields", and not shooting unless there's a killshot to be had, sometimes loses the whole team the match.
The kill-death stats seem much less impressive when you consider how some are being padded in this way.
Note that I am not saying everyone with a high k:d is doing this. The best pilots don't resort to that kind of lameness. More power to them.

As far as kill shots are concerned, this problem is something PGI can fix if they wanted to. They currently only post kills per game on their leader boards. They also reward too much for a kill compared to most damage done in a kill. They could reduce the reward for kill shots, greatly increase the reward for most damage done, and post the most damage done per kill on the leader boards. This should increase participation of the kill snipes, if their motivations are the leader boards, or kill rewards.
If you dangle a carrot for players, they will chase it. Right now the carrots are kills, just rework your reward system to better reward over all participation. Such as most damage done, and increase the amount of damage needed to be rewarded for an assist, but increase the reward for assists.

That infuriates many players.....
I'm still not sure why? Isn't that "we" are suppose to do and what "I" do really isn't relevant???

LOL. I know several self-professed "competitive" pilots who do just that in this game. Every time it's the same -- hide at the back and shoot the damaged mechs or, in QP, pick a high alpha heavy, hide until the match is nearly over then come out and alpha the damaged mechs to get that "oooh so sweet KDR".
I make a point, if I am in a light and one of those pilots is on my team, of kiting other enemy mechs right towards him and letting him deal with a 2 or 3 on 1 while I go and find an easier enemy target.
This is the BS you get tracking and presenting individual stats.... some focus on wins, some on KDR etc.
