So I keep ending up in matches with [Redacted] and others that have the same name scheme. They are nothing but team killers that rack up two or more kills on their own allies.
Why is it that I am limited on the number of times I can report them for taking away the other 20-23 players enjoyment of the game, but they seem to just be in every other match I play (yes, I have run into them every other match this morning)

Sorry about the rant, but I am just curious how the reporting works.

Banning takes a while. Unfortunate that you had met them repeatedly, but within few days those accounts will be banned.

There is nothing more you can do. However the game does have an automatic penalty timer which ramps up steeply.

I would simply ignore it. The long term dopamine satiation from greifing I would argue fails greatly compared to the "normal" method of playing MWO. If that is not the case, the abnormal psychology is at least of interest from an academic standpoint.

Also this thread most likely will be locked since you named and shamed.

It's actually been a persistent problem for the past week+, but discussing the actual tactics used by said TK trolls is against forum rules.

They've been around since last month based on the steam forums. It seems they are the terror of T5 at the moment, ruining new player experience one match at a time.

They were in GQ last week under different names.

I know its against COC, but **** these guys. Everyone should know so they can be put down at the beginning of the drop.

No, the better thing to do is allow the said player to do as much damage as possible. To go his face, twist your mech around. That battle is already kinda f***** for all players anyway but the good thing about this game, is you lose no cbills for this.

The bigger amount of damage the account takes, the faster and harder it gets longer and longer automatic penalties. That is the only weapon againts that kind of behavior. Sure banning too but that works on office time.

For same reason, do not shoot him, nor do not kill him. Advise others to do the same, but only when he starts doing it.

By getting people to shoot him, he gets what he wants. Wreck. That's what people like that do. By getting team mates to receive the penalties intended for his kind, he gets what he wants. Do give none of it and try to minimize others doing the same thing. I think it works better if you don't say it beforehand, before he actually starst doing it. Though if he is not in your lance, you can use lance chat to alert your lancemates.

I would imaginge a jerk like that also uses the reporting and reports people shooting him, no idea if it will work into anything but it's still bad, I doubt PGI has a complicated system where team damage and team kill reports and automatically invalidated for accounts which have been banned completely.

Thank you Teer, thats actually more or less what I was looking for. What makes the ban happen and how does the time out penalty calculate and work.

The current spate of TKing has discovered straightforward methods to deal with the lockout penalty, which is why it seems there are so many of "them" despite it not really being "many" at all.

Some person using many troll accounts. Just keep reporting and when you see it do at least multiple screen shots as the default print screen key makes screen shots. You don't need recording software to make a video when you can spam the screen shots and send them as a zip file to support. The more evidence against these ******* the better and faster pgi will act.

Had 2 of these morons ruining the XP weekend and I was going to come onto the forum and complain but thought twice about it coz after a while I didnt notice them in my games so thought they had been banned but it looks like they are still at it.
[redacted] had a friend and it just happened to be one on each team that dropped that game they both shared the "[redacted] " name and they both team killed there share of team mates.

[redacted] from what i seen over the XP event (which was by the way a pain in the neck when your trying to get your match win for the winning of cache's!) mostly dropped in a Kodiak. I watched him kill a team mate in a madcat mk2 then because i was watching decided to start killing me so i just stood there and let him blow the crap out of me because what else can you do at that point Posted Image

@Brain Cancer: Seems like any workaround requires a fair amount of tedium, like setting multiple accounts, emails, repeated logons, etc.

Regular people get enough of that playing that normally. Does being anti-social give one the gift of patience or tolerance of inefficiency? Seems like the brain would be fighting itself over cross purposes. I don't see how the amount "fun" equals the amount of work put in.

[Redacted]

It's one reason Wargaming (as much as I don't like to give them credit for much) instituted the "Pink" system in WoWs. Whole idea was that "Pink" players are known team-damage/killers and can be attacked by anyone free of penalty. Granted, it opened up a whole new kind of trolling, but that's the internet and online gaming for you. Trolls are going to troll.

Most probably display lag, I see that quite often, with "normal" players.

That ... creature ... bragged on Facebook about having several hundred spare email accounts already created ready to register new MWO accounts and having written a script to speed up logon process.

There's really nothing we can do about "it".

"It" gets high by ruining other people's fun.

You retaliate ? You get a penalty, and since you're now under restriction, your fun is ruined and he "wins".

You name and shame "it" ? "It" gets attention, and even more high.

It's current account gets banned, or permabanned ? Plenty more emails left to start again.

IP gets banned ? It takes a couple of minutes following Windows integrated tutorial to setup a VPN and change your IP address.

In a Free To Play game with anonimity and no real consequences, nothing can stop "it".

I don't understand the mentality of those ... creatures ... that get their jollies with that kind of behaviour, but I'm not a sociopath.

In Real Life, we find that behaviour so abhorrent that we usually lock away such creatures in psychiatric wards or prisons, or maybe try to medicate them to make them conform to society's standards if we feel kind, but on the Internet ...

MWO is set up to be easy to get into. This is a double-edged sword.

The purpose of such trollers is schadenfruede- they gain pleasure at the discomfort of others.

Then within the hour, they have a new account and repeat the process.
