Guys, if you want a taste of what this is like, try this:

KGC-000 King Crab with total of 6x machine guns in both of its arms. Added LRM30 + 2x ERML.
Just yesterday (for the first time) killed an Annihilator with 6x machine guns. Had 2 volleys of LRM30 on it before closing in too close, then hosed it with mainly machine guns. Both Killing Blow and KMDD. That's just 6x machine guns!

Also, 6x machine guns is enough to scare off lights trying to NASCAR your Assault. Try it!

But from the MWO developer's point of view:
1) 12 ballistic hard points is wide open to abuse. How about adding in 12x UAC2 instead? Insane.
2) Possible solution: Perhaps maybe MWO should differentiate MG (Machine Gun) hard point vs other ballistic hard points.

(Disclaimer: I'm a new player returning to MWO; I'm not associated with MWO/PGI in any way).

I would say yes for the meme builds alone for this mech but seeing how they murder the WhammyIIC out the door, I have no hopes for a decent Clan assault, and I wanted this and the Pheonix Hawk IIC.

Also PGI haven't done anything big for this game for so long, I don't why bothering asking for a new mech.

2 LB20x
12 MGs

Nice idea ... but due to crit slot requirements that would be impossible. The maximum possible would be 2 LBX20s with 9 machine guns (not even bothering with looking into ammo or speed situation):
  • You'd have to use a seriously lower rated STD engine to get the full 12 crit slots on the right torso for 1 LBX20 plus 3 machine guns
  • 5 machine guns in either the left or the right arm
  • 1 LBX20 in either the left or the right arm plus 1 machine gun
With the LBX20s in the arms you'd end up with only 6 machine guns but at least you could retain an XL engine

Dual Gauss (1 per arm) on the other hand ... Posted Image

What kind of "abuse" are you thinking exactly?
Those 14 (not 12) ballistic hardpoints on a Kraken are located in 3 zones: 5 per arm and 4 in its right torso. Compared to Mechs like the Ultra Violet or the Dakka-Annihilator that crit slot distribution and tonnage requirements of non machine gun ballistic weapons seriously limits what can actually be done in terms of different armament than the standard loadouts of the Kraken and its variants ... and most of those non machine gun ballistic configurations can be closely mirrored by other mechs as well.

The only thing that other mechs could not mirror are setups with low counts of AC ballistics plus a larger number of machine guns. Probably something like 2 UAC10s / LBX10s plus 12 machine guns and still with the potential of running under weight.

Your idea of "abuse potential" is 12 UAC2s?
Yeah,in order to do that you'd have to drop all machine guns and their ammo, possibly reduce the engine size all the way down to Clan XL235 or lower depending on how much weight you could gain via endosteel... and then you'd still be stuck with the measly 4 tons of ammo for 12 instead of just 10 UAC2s and your movement speed would be around 32-38km/h.

*edit* To make things worse: I'm not sure if that even works out due to heat sink requirements and remaining weight reductions via ferro-fibrous vs. remaining crits slots*/edit*

I'm not sure if I'd call that a problem to game balance

There's actually little reason for doing that due to the hypothetical "threat" of a Kraken and the side effects on other mechs - that would also no longer be able to replace machine guns with larger ballistics or vice versa - would have a far more negative impact than a pure machine gun Kraken could ever have.

How many times was this said before PGI announced a piece of trash mech for release?

You're lucky they've abandoned MWO or they'd do it to troll you.

Uhm I’ve been around the game for 7 years, you think I don’t know the struggles of mechs being released that shouldn’t? Half the mechs we have now are absolutely redundant or serve no purpose in the current meta, we don’t need this mech, and we won’t see anymore anyways. I don’t get why people keep asking for more mechs when we won’t see anymore unless this game becomes profitable again, and it won’t.

Granted I’d love to see more mechs, especially the DESERVING mechs, not this thing. But we won’t, I enjoy what we have and that’s all I need to do.

are we forgetting that this is a clan mech? nvm im stupid. i keep forgetting that the 4 torso ballistic points are on one side, even though i knew that in my previous posts.

i dont think the std engine is that much of an issue anyway, you can probably max it out. the mech runs xl300 stock and proibibly has an engine cap around 360 (im using the king crab as a reference). idk what kind of armor caps were looking at but a max armored kodiak 3 with a 360std is around 64 tons. the lbs are 24 tons and the mgs are only 2.25 tons and still enough room to pack about 9t for ammo.
