I agree. Also as you point out, you have limited tonnage as well so what does an extra hard point really give you at the end of the day? I mean sure, I guess it would be nice to be able to toss in 3 x SRM4s to avoid having to spend weight on Artemis for example or having an extra energy hard point so you could boat lasers but it isn't really needed for the mech to be able to support many solid builds.

eh, most people I think just want one more laser... but it should preform fine as is. 2x aSRM6 is probably better than 3xSRM4 anyhow nowadays. I guess 1 more SPL or ML would be nice, but not needed.

2 SRM4s, 3 ERSLs, with a 180 engine... might be a good light hunter

Most Urbies are pretty decent light fighters. Especially if you can 'trick' them into following you - Torso twist 180 degrees, go max speed, and suddenly the light that was going 150kph is only going 50kph relative to you.

Why not? More interesting to play than the same old energy vomit Urbie at least.

I would argue that it doesn't compensate enough for the lost hardpoint. I am by no means saying that the UM-R68 would be terrible or unplayable. It's just that it could have been done better.

Kind of what i have in mind really. That 3x SRM4 would be a decent replacement over 2x SRM6A, and would save tonnage. Won't be as good over a range, but it's good for it's weight and have the mech still able to use 3x MPL.

But my concern is that it could have done better, by no means i'm saying that it wouldn't be solid, but that the 2M does not compensate enough for -1 total hardpoint. Maybe it's just PGI worrying about 3x RL20.

More than 2 missile points and you are encroaching on Javelin territory - which gets some structural quirks and a larger engine cap, but does have the armor of Urbies or the addition of Energy backups.

The Urbie wouldn't fit well with the striker role though, not with it's speed -- the lack of it. Javelin like Oxides and jenner works by speed of hit and run, by quickly flanking an enemy. At best we should see a lightweight competent brawler, but i doubt that it would out-do and obsolete the Javelin.

I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing people running it with 2x LRM20, because if a mech has any missile hardpoints, people will LRM boat it.

That would be a neat trick. Kind of hard to pull off with more than half a ton of ammo, though.

Probably just 1x LRM20A, cause that weighs 10 ton each without arty.

2x LRM15 would be possible; with stock engine, endo-steel and ferro-fibrous, it can do that with 3 tons of ammo and max armor.

It is pretty much a guarantee we'll be seeing LRM boating R68s in one form or another though. A lot of players just don't know better.

Well, yes. There are people who are 'boating' LRMs in a Gridiron, I'm sure.
