Strange to do a ballistics event 1st when you just nerfed clan uac10's and all lmgs thought you would have done an event for weapons that benefitted from the patch 1st not ones that got nerfed 1st

Why does this event only happen in QP? FW is already hard to get matches, it's a ghost town now. Nothing but Ghost Drops

Indeed, Jon. For a 12-man of KCOM and BCMC tonight spent more than half an hour getting 2 ghost drops tonight. Someone's getting matches, but it isn't us. :/

Actually we checked, since 7:44 there has been a clan victory every 10 minutes, means no one is getting drops, it's just ghost drop after ghost drop

Event is fun and was a good concept...but the fact that it can't be done in Faction Warfare is just one more nail in the coffin.

...no one in PGI listens to the player base when we talk...

Update: Fifth ghost drop tonight. Let's play a drinking game! Everyone take a shot when you get a ghost drop!

Just wanting to say that I still have this error, long after the event started.
It worked earlier this day, and now it shows nothing again.

I'm sure a lot of people have talked about this. I may be contributing to it as well, but I don't have the events to choose I can't claim any awards hell I can't even see my progress on it. not sure whats wrong with it. I've restarted the portal client a few times already and same issue. i've gone as far as a complete re installation and still no event selection.

Just want to drop a note for those that think 2k is too much for the AC20... Polar Highlands ENF-4P 1xAC20 4xML... 511 damage 318 AC20 damage alone... just sayin. That was my first AC20 drop of the night.

This event was born out of some simple criteria I had.
  • Keep the event concept simple (ballistics only)
  • uses statistics we have never used before (Weapon exclusive damage)

even if the page on the site is missing tracked stats.. just having a list of what the challenges are would be a nice thing..

Sounds great and please ignore the same handful of whiners that are chronic on this forum.
Most players just avoid this caustic website and just play some quick drops whenever they have the time.
Just need to get event thingy showing up 100% of time in game for 100% of players.
Lurm event and Lazor event sound fair and looking forward to it.

Note: Any redeemed challenges should be minimized (shows blue title, but not showing details)
PS. Thank you for not bothering with FW/CW, but if you do then make Scouting an equal part or don't bother.
PS2. the cBill rewards do seem rather small, and most non-cBill rewards are uninteresting (except warhorns imo)
Suggest giving player the option to "Sell" non-cbill reward for double CBills and visaversa. An option either given when redeeming or perhaps a checkbox as in item X + X CBills (unchecked item X = 2x X CBills)???

I'm looking forward to this event. It is understood that I might not be able to meet all of the objectives given my resources, but the gains that are available are a nice bonus. I like that this is an opportunity to play more ballistics than I usually do, and in so doing hone my skills with weapons that I may have, beforehand, found too difficult for whatever reason. Perhaps I will discover a new killer combo that I have not built before. Just because there is a challenge it does not mean that I will "conquer all" but I will *within my limitations* rise to meet that challenge and see how well I do. In fact, I look forward to more events such as this. I greet Lurmageddon with open arms and eager Catapults and Archers. This can test the balance of ECM and AMS. If these specialized events help PGI to collect more data on the behavior of certain weapons so that they can analyse and improve, then I am happy to collect whatever rewards I can and know that I am contributing to the evolution and improvement of my favorite pastime. If not, there is no compulsion for me to follow the carrot on the stick and I'll just bring the Wubs to the party. I say Bravo! Let the game creators worry about the fallout of their choices. I for one will make the most of the events and not squeeze sour grapes into bitter wine. Give it a try. If you don't like it vote with your internet connection.

I am so hating this event due the blinding effects of ballistics. I do not have epilepsy but after this event I might. Is there a way to tone down the flash effects?

You're confusing terms... people complaining here represent only a portion of the FORUM base... which are only a small minority of the entire PLAYER base. Every match I had this afternoon from when the event started at 1pm EST thru to 7pm EST had more players unaware an event was even occurring than were aware and actively trying to accomplish the criteria for the rewards. That means the majority of those players hadn't even looked at the website, or clicked on the new events tab in the game UI of the mech garage.

Actually, no problem, LRM's have more counters than your average Home Depot. Bring it.

Finished 3 of 6 of the IS Ballistic challenge rather quickly. Oddly enough, the AC-10 took the most matches. Won't be doing the Gauss section, as I can't hit the broadside of a Mechlab from the inside with one. The AC-20 took 7 matches because I was 14 points short after 6.

Like the format, damage amounts are interesting but can be dealt with. Like having immediate feedback on where I stand in the contest.

Didn't like spending 13 million space bucks to buy additional weapon systems, but that was my choice. Actually used mechs that had been gathering dust in the Mechodex, so maybe some benefit there.

Overall, I like where this is going. The first implementation had some rough spots, but that is to be expected.

Absolutely love the rocket girl standing item. Please make more like these. No really, please. I am actually thinking of running a Clan mech to get another one, and this is coming from someone who is a die hard IS loyalist.

It is only space bucks.

played with 2 ac20 (no backup weaponry) on a warhammer on polar and actually went out of ammo... 650 dmg on first try in an awesome match with 2 annies tanking and a great team to push, sadly i didnt watch the event counter and thus it didnt count for it, but i admit i was wrong with my concerns :D

thats a rather obvious choise for the clan machinegun challenge (in fact, i will use that one too), but which mech would you use on IS side? no IS light can boat that load of minature-dakka, and mechs like the arrow are a bit too slow and fragile to get that close in. i thought about using my beloved spider 5k but thats just too terrible in terms of firepower.


Not really keen on a Lurmageddon-event but hey, i will need about a week for repairing my beach buggy anyway :D jk, as much as i know myself i will probably use a spiritbear as lurmboat, just to pull some peps legs...
