FW is a joke and it seems like this game is just a placeholder until MW5 comes out. They have neglected any sort of balance in FW, and QP is just so fun- all 2-3 maps you get to play /s, boring and if this continues for very long I predict a quick demise.... the game just isn't fun. Just my opinion of course, but seeing our group disappear rapidly is kind of a portent of the near future..

Only the few "competitive" players still play regularely.
Otherwise there is little to nothing left from our three battalions.

Peoples friends may leave, but others replace them. the leader boards and numbers have been fairly consistent for a long time now. How many games have you played steady for 5 years+ Most games i've played and people i've known maybe play around 3-6 months.. If your playing a game for years you are in the minority to start with. It's just a fact of gaming

Your right, this game has been an anomaly- 5 years WOW, but then I never spent this much time or money on any other game either. Yes there are some new people coming in- in fact we are constantly bringing in new people, at least 3-4 a week, but no where near the amount that I look on my friends list and are no longer online, I just hate to see it die this way.

No. Not yet.
This is their funding for MW5. They need to keep a at least a minimally viable basis (this game) functional so as to have a reason to keep churning out mech packs for those still willing to buy them.
As I see it they will keep along their current path (monthly mech packs, everything else half-asses) in MWO until MW5 releases. If MW5 is a huge success, then they will abandon MWO to some sort of zombie state with no development at all save for maintenance and that will only last as long as they continue to make a meager profit. When that no longer is viable they pull the plug entirely, and entice the remaining folks with: MW5-ON LINE! wherein we will all have the pleasure of starting over in a new venue, when that yet to be announced iteration of MW5 releases.
If on the other hand, MW5 bombs, then the status quo around here will be maintained for perhaps a few years more; and MWO won't die until they run out of mechs and nostalgic whales willing to buy them.
Either way, as I see it unfolding, we have 2-4 years even after MW5 releases before the end is nigh.

With respect for your opinion Ouch and so very wrong !
Status quo does not equal good..... Marginal does not equal pass.... The effective range for an excuse is zero meters.......
No, successful games find, entertain and retain even causal players..... Holy crap, Eve has groups that have been playing together for a decade.....
With repect, wrong approach my friend.
I'm staying till MW5 and Solaris. Even though the team that talked me into playing ALL left after the skill tree. Even though the team I joined has 58 players of whom only 9 have played this month and we haven't dropped as a team in 2 months.......
Do or do not, there is no try, eh?!

Don't blame the devs for the "2-3 maps you get to play." The match participants vote for maps - blame them for their lack of imagination.

My stomach really did turn when I read that PGI was making MW5. I get a little depressed they're getting another Mechwarrior game to butcher.
The community is the sole thing that kept this game alive, without multiplayer I just don't see MW5 doing well.

CW is indeed a joke in terms of balance. However, MWO is not likely to die-off any time soon. People have been falsely predicting its demise since 2013.

I've long said that MWO's problems stem from PGI's lack of ambition and imagination for the title. Every design decision becomes a cost-cutting compromise that is minimally viable instead of maximally engaging.

when I drop FP I have to change it into training day when I see people shoot the gate
there is nothing directing new players toward the units and FP will chase I don't know what % away from
the game
for the vets its been like getting hit in the nose with a wet news paper again and again
all that time and hard work I put into the game to get modules went out the window
sort of like taking away my car and giving me a years worth of buss passes
and I got no say-- no vote-- nothing
anyways I will still be around because I am some old retired guy with nothing better to do
except work on my cars and they cost way to much money lol

Well, we are expecting 2 new maps in the next few months with a third shortly behind them. Devs also said they are going to be ramping up map production... so problem solved?

Huh, never heard of this TS where every player on MWO has to be in. Strange how I am also seeing full teams of different people every match when the TS that contains every MWO player ever only has 5 people in it.

That's because it is placeholder until they finish it? They're still doing quite a bit of work on it.

Lack of new maps? We've gotten 2 new ones and at least two redesigns (which essentially completely change how they play)>
A lot of small improvements have been made to the game. Balance has been improved as far as I can tell, we got a new skill tree that all but the most biased agree is a huge improvement over the more expensive old skill and mod systems.

Indeed. It seems healthier than a lot of games. 30,000+ players playing at least 10 games a month is a decent retention for a small game.
