Its not a big deal since its purely visual, but i do agree that it looks bad relative to the old method. They prolly did it due to the hero omnipod RA which allows PPC and ballistic at once (and ballistic would take teh center slot). I think itd be nice if the non hero omnipod PPC was mounted in the center, but its not exactly going to break the mech or anything...

I put it on the MWO issue tracker a couple weeks ago. Shocked at how little apparent attention this sort of stuff gets. This whole game is financed and arguably is based on about how good the stompy robots look. I aint playing or paying for stompy robots that look like crap or just look half-assed. This mech looks half-assed.

Is this a new thing? PPC in the right arm seems to be in the laser slot and not the PPC slot. Looks very offensive! Did I miss something in some patch notes somewhere or is this not working as intended?

It's things like this which make me really, REALLY want them to allow us to pick which hardpoint gets a given weapon in a given location- so you could just pick the "correct" one for the PPC here, or not have to stuff placeholders into a torso to force a given gun into a high mount where you wanted it to begin with.

Big deal. Just wait till this thread hits 89 pages over two years just like the catapult problem before pgi fixes it. Dynamic geo is awesome. Que the lego gif.

I am going to guess this change has to do with Mishipeshu and its RA.
If you want a Ballistic and Energy in its RA, they both cannot be in the same spot so they code it so the Energy goes in that location.
Somehow it affects all Shadow Cat RAs.
I have no idea what is up with the Orion IIC, that Hero has the same 2E and the Primary and B variants, don't own them so I do not know how they worked before.
Would be interesting to see how the Shadow Cat B variant now handles Energy plus Missile since the Missile always wrapped around the outside including where the PPC is in the OP picture.

Every weapon and its potential hardpoints on every mech appears to be copy pasted geometry (ie; not dynamically loaded from a library like every other game in existence). So not only is it not scalable when adding new weapons (see the pace of the civil war weapon geometry rollout) ) but their locations can not be dynamic - a ER-PPC cant exist in two locations, it could exist on top of the ballistic hardpoint before because you couldn't place a ballistic, but not anymore, so lacking any script capability or XML logic they had to move the ER-PPC geo and re-export the 3D file I assume.

It's probably the most time-costly and inefficient system they could have made for a game that's based around adding mechs.

This doesn't really effect me personally as since new tech I've been running my Shadowcat with a pair of HLLs, but this is still damn stupid.

I've seen MGs and missiles taking up the same spot/intersecting on the arm on my MLX when I went to mess around with the new parts. They also changed the position of certain weapons after years of them sitting in different spots. Driving my OCD mad not having symmetry.
