FP teaches you bad habits over solo QP?

I can carry a QP easily enough such that I am the "difference" with relative ease. Can I carry a FP match as easily on my own?

Absolutely not... It's far harder, requires a bit of luck as well in most cases.

And don't forget this is coming from me, as a player, that is well above average. That understands MWO far better than 99% of people playing it, including you.
yeah hes very good at "rotation of armor" aka using his team as meatshields. ;)

Not to toot my own horn, espically you were in my stream during this game, but 1 Person can make a huge difference you know this, even vs a group of players

I totally agree. One player can, can they do it easily though? Generally not. It takes lots of awareness, understanding of the game etc etc. Something that comes easy to decent players but the rest of the player base?

To Jun?

The answer is a big no.

Actually, quick play is harder.

And that is all we will ever need to know.

Yesterday after a match against a group of IS pugs with a friend of mine in it, he wrote me a message complaining about IS pugs. So I contacted an IS pilot whom I highly respect and who always drops in groups to get them together. IS pugs have a certain reputation...

On the clan side it's different. There was one particular drop of clan pugs where one guy at the beginning used VOIP to ask for a caller. No reply. After we defeated the first wave, another guy used VOIP only to say "good work, team". Silently we kept fighting and won the match. That happens quite often. Clan pugs most of the time know that due to lesser drop deck size teamwork is the only way to win, so we do that. IS pugs see their ton advantage and think they can go rambo, so they do that.

Dropping solo in fw on clan side can be challenging, but the victory is so much sweeter. Especially when a group of random players manages to defeat a 12 man or a team with a big part from a well known unit.

I doubt it's due to any concious decision by either side. The meta just favors clan laser vomit on most maps and most people seem to agree that clan pugs are better players overall.

A couple years ago the solution would be to join a good unit. Now the matchmaker is very slow if you play QP as part of a unit unless you play during US prime time. And 99% of MWO units are dead or nearly dead these days. I left my last unit because they became inactive.

If anyone knows an EU time zone based unit that is really active and half way decent, let me know and I'll join them.

I know I mentioned this elsewhere but...

I think the reason Clan pugs are better is due to Clan mechs being more expensive. For a new player, it is half the price or less to build an IS drop deck. This makes it easier to start doing FP as IS, particularly for the events. Once you've ground out c-bills from a few events and can afford to build a Clan drop deck, you'll be sick of losing all the time and switch across to Clan.

The sheer cost of Clan mechs locks out the beginner players, acting as a way of keeping the average skill of Clan pugs higher.

I'm not calling for Clan mechs to become cheaper (better should be more expensive). I actually think 12v10 is the way to go.

The problem is, they aren't. Once you fully equipped an IS mech, it is the same if not more expensive than a clan mech.

The problem actually is, that with clan mechs it's hard to screw up builds, with IS mechs it is way too easy to bring really bad builds!

They are cheaper to buy and that's it.
