A perfect real world example is the Arctic Wolf when comparing the Lanner and the Eagle. Which Arctic Wolf is more fun to build and play with? The omni or the battlemech?
Simply put, a battlemech in this game is just so much more enjoyable/interactive to build. We have a hardlocked 55ton chassis, let's try something different.

It's going to be the Mongrel. VapEagle doesn't have enough variants, Lanner lacks podspace, most of the others are too far out there (a Blood Spirit omni? Solaris customs? Not named clan mechs? Cmon ppl be real). The Mongrel has speed, humanoid profile, pod space aplenty. This is what we'll be getting.

The Vapor Eagle has more MWO legal variants than the Piranha, many included mechs have pod space problems like the Lanner, and it's not like the Linebacker wasn't a bit 'out there' when it was announced.

Anyway...

I don't care for the Lanner I have mediums I want but I know good and well they'll release the Lanner before they go adding my Griffin and Shadhawk IIC, and I really want those two mechs!!
