It is worth noting that Hellhound's base MW4 loadouts are completely different than its lore loadout. The lore loadout has no ballistics or omnipods.

Unless they decide to release MW4 version and create ingame variants and stuff they could.
It be weird I remember in a thread it seems like people were split on which one should be released into the game.

That said, I suggested before they should pull another Arctic Wolf move. Release the standard pack of the BattleMech Conjurer 1 & any two of the 2, 3, 4 or 5 variants, using the Wolverine IIC model. Then the Reinforcements & Hero can use the MW4 model and be OmniMechs.

It's simple Bandito,
The MW4 Hellhound is a new chassis all together, and designated as Hellhound by the Clans. The

Yeah something like that would untie the whole Wolverine IIc/ Conjurer/ Hellhound headache I got by trying to find a solution to get the MW4 Hellhound into MWO, while a the same time also have the WIIC/ Conjurer appear as it did in the old artworks/ concepts, respect the lore and canon, while pleasing two groups liking bot the designs..
I do know the clans made it a bit confusing, refusing to use the Wolverine designation which they thought of first, but then the "Not Named Clan" happend to make a rucus so to not remind the fuzz about them they renamed the Woverine IIc to Conjurer.
Comstar however, knew that it was in fact an updated/ upgraded Wolverine, so as far I know, they didnt use the Conjurer designation I think.

Haven't read that before, I just know that in the TRO's they are written from ComStar's P.O.V. and all clan units are code named till sometime in the mid 3050's, after enough contact between the IS and Clans has been achieved and the Clan names had been learned.

I'm pretty sure what actually happened is the art department was told not to include so many humanoid mechs, so they were forced to adapt the Hellhound into a chicken walker. Nearest one they could reference that was popular and distinctive was the Black Lanner.

Or, rename the Microsoft MW3 version something else and add it in a seperate mech all together.
For example: the Battletech lore friendly version can be called the Conjurer and be a battlemech while the WM3 Hellhound retains the name "Hellhound" and becomes and omnimech.

Erm, I think your thinking of something else, because the Not-Named Clan made only three mechs. Pulverizer, Stag, and Mercury 2. Conjuror is a general Clan second liner with a specialisation in close-quarters combat. It's only relation to the Not-Named Clan is because the original mech it was based on is the Wolverine, and since that name is a bad word in Clans, they changed it to Conjuror.

A lot of mechs from Table Top are hardpoint starved before they came to MWO.
Look at the Shadow Hawks for example, the 2H and 2K especially.
1 Ballistic, 1 Energy and 2 Missile for the 2H, and 1 Energy and 1 Missile for the 2K in table top form.
Subsequently bumped up to...
3 Ballistic, 1 Energy and 3 Missile for the 2H, and 3 Energy and 3 Missile for the 2K in MWO.
I'm sure the same can be said of many other mechs, especially lighter mechs

As for the art situation:
Completely dump the old art. Simple.
Personally, the old art is inferior and has no sentimental value at all.
The MW4 Hellhound takes all the names and backstory the mech has. The old art is counted as Unseen after all, and the mech has a nice-looking redesign that has been around since 2002.

Yet again I feel the need to mention my idea of just making the MW4 Hellhound into its own completely unique chassis under a new name (i.e. Warhound or whatever) so that we could potentially have both the canonical 'Hound and the MW4 'Hound.
