Hello there!
Is there a way to improve graphics for MWO? Right now I have better PC and finally put graphic settings to max but I feel I'm missing something. I'm playing steam version of MWO if it matters.

If the settings are maxed, that's it. Apparently not.

SweetFX might help you to improve the looks further. Check these comparison pics out. https://sfx.thelazy....es/preset/4512/

The game is what it is; more powerful hardware improves it by getting you closer to rock-solid 60 FPS or above, but you're not going to be improving the models/textures/effects beyond that's in there (given that PGI tries to prevent graphics modifications so as not to give players an unfair advantage with things like brightskins). SweetFX can change the color balance if that's your thing, but I wouldn't say that's 'better graphics', just different graphics.

Reshade (R.I.P stylesheet) is more modern alternative with more shader options, a better UI, and a more friendly installation.

Besides coloring&contrast which SweetFX or Reshade thoroughly fix, the biggest graphical issue for MWO seems to be its LOD distances. Every map is full of ugly low level models that only enter full detail at like 200m away, and they're even visible on some loading screens. In MechWarrior 4 you could add a negative billion to the LOD distances and all objects would always appear in full detail. Also for some MechWarrior 2 versions there's software to increase the draw distances. MWO doesn't have such an option, only presets. Posted Image

I watched a video about some cable that has built in anti-aliasing. The guy in the video seemed adamant it actually worked. I could barely tell the difference from the comparisons. But then I'm in low settings hell so it probably wouldn't matter. Posted Image

I downloaded the reshade program mostly because the sweetfx leaded me there, and it's amazing! It sharpened the look of everything! But got problem with nightvision, its so bright greenish that literally blinded me. But sweetfx is now reshade, right?

That cable is for use with hardware that doesn't do AA on its own - Essentially consoles and computers without the inbuilt performance required to do AA. It wont do squat for someone with a decent video card (And I suspect its usefulness in its 'niche' isn't as absolute as some of these articles insist).

Also, screw $100+ plus cables. if I wanted to overpay for a cable, I'd buy a gold plated HDMI cable from Bestbuy.

...Does this reshade thing have a noticeable performance hit?

Performance impact varies and the drop is stronger for weaker GPUs or GPU-bound machines.

Basic contrast or sharpness shaders should cost almost nothing. Fancy shaders like SMAA (Really good Post-AA) and MXAO (Adds fancy shadows, doesn't work in online matches) have larger performance impacts.

I'm looking at some of the other presets and, damn, do some of those confer a notable advantage. Toxi's Reshade on HPG? That's broken as ****.

In what way is it broken? I personally do not use reshaders cause things such as depth of field makes things more obscure.

That particular one? It brightens the map to such an extent that you get a "night as day" effect.Normally, HPG is pretty dark and 'Mechs against the wall are somewhat tough to pick out from a distance, but with that particular shader it would be easy.

I mean, I suppose you could just crank your gamma way up and get a similar advantage, but PGI didn't light the maps the way they did with that in mind.

I've seen that. It's post processing, so for PC's, the benefit would be minimal, as your onboard graphics are infinitely better at it, but for consoles, it apparently shows noticeable benefits.

To get an advantage other players do not have using external mods to overcome ambient light... hmmmmm sounds like cheating or exploiting to me. If they wanted you to see clearly that would be the way they designed it. Lost respect.. face the storm next time we see you in a match.

What? No, no. I downloaded it only for improving the graphics, the game now looks more sharp than before and that's a plus. But like I mention before I got problem with the lighting when turning on the nightvision, it's glowing too much! Gonna turn off the glass effect like Gorantir said before. I think I need to experiment with the reshade options too.

Here, those are images from game
Edit: screenshots are from game with reshade. It looks better now in my opinion. But still the green glow is too bright and I can't to make it less bright.
