Hey Guys,

Just did a windows update. Lost all in game sound from...game, mechbay, patcher, everything.

Sound works normally for every thing else....

Patch repair said no issues.

64 bit Windows10, MSI Motherboard with on-board Realtek Audio....

I know it "could be anything", but was wondering if someone had a quick fix before I go down the rabbit hole....

Thanks!

Snow

Allways block Windows from updating Drivers.

Try reinstalling your Motherboard and Soundrivers.

If it does not help you simply can go back to a older not updated Win10 Recovery Point (how ever that is named in english - i guess you understand what i mean).

Thanks. I reverted back to the last restore point and all fixed.

You will have to jump through a few hoops but you are able to disable Windows updating drivers, then double check after each major update version.

Next time though it happens, double check the default setting on the playback devices. After a major GPU update, due to HDMI my default sound driver is reset back to the HDMI sound on my monitor. In fact that is how I knew my disabled driver update and been reset back to default. I checked my Windows update history and there it was.. Windows updated my GPU drivers. It also caused some other issues as it was not a clean install. Just remember when making the change if you are logged into MWO you will need to log out of it then back in.

This month Miniweak (Microsoft) is planning to release the big Fall Creators Update:

So better have a good Restore Point available in case it goes not as good as expected and prepare for System Tuning!

Did you check A: That Windows has correct devices(drivers) selected as default audio device/s. B: That those are also the same selected ingame.

If that major Windows update did stuff like reload drivers then those drivers may be different devices and they might not be correctly set up either Windows side or MWO side.
