This is a question that I have hoped I would not need to ask.
Why are there no clan mechs in the training grounds?
As a matter of fact, there is no 'rotation' of mechs at all in the training grounds.
Seeing how the clans are freely rampaging the FP map, I would think it is about time for Clan mechs to show up in the training grounds so players can practice on them.
The Clans have had, literally, several years of practice on IS mechs in the training grounds.
Don't you think it's about time to give the IS a fair shake?

Sorry about the rant, but this has been going on long enough.
Peace (and fairness) to all.

None of the mechs in training grounds are remotely current meta so who cares. The hitbox info is not useful in that regard.

Any mech can be tested by dropping in it and swapping out in the academy grounds.

Im guessing you mean testing grounds. The short answer is that the mechs in it were put in when there were far fewer mechs and no clan mechs. PGI hasnt bothered to update the mechs in it yet.

Would you like to buy a mechpack?

Do you give a new driver a broken down jalopy or a Ferrari to learn to drive?

Teach the to drive the jalopy, when they get in the Ferrari they will automatically become 8% better drivers.

EZ mode.

It is a terrible choice by PGI to leave it that way for years

Who knows why
Some maps even have MULTIPLE of the SAME MECH

Very much a wasted opportunity

Thank you guys for your feedback.
My post wasn't intended to be 'salt', as Spheriod stated, and I apologize if it came across as such.
I just seems wrong that PGI is not 'rotating' mechs in the testing grounds.
I can't imagine it would be difficult to program all mechs of standard configurations to populate the testing grounds randomly.
Also, Spheroid, if your still watching this, how do you "drop in and swap out" mechs in the academy? (I must have missed that lesson)

Peace

You can swap mechs in the MechWarrior Academy. Drop in the mech you want to practice shooting at, then swap to one of the Academy mechs by standing directly in front of it and following the prompt to change mechs, then go to town.

As for both the Academy and the Training Grounds maps, PGI apparently considers them good enough, case closed. I would have loved to see the Siege maps have the gates, gens, and Omega active for new players to be able to figure out not to shoot the gates themselves or the boxes around the gens, and where you can position yourself to shoot what needs to be shot, and NOT have to try to figure out all this stuff under pressure during an actual FW drop.

Thanks for answering my question, JA.
I will try your technique 1st chance I get.
And I agree with your suggestion about FW training maps.

Peace Out

Way to be a **** for no reason whatsoever.

He makes a good point. Maybe some new players want to go in and play around with clan mechs and whatnot. Your autism storm is groundless.

Thanks, J O for the backup.
I felt that I had a legitimate question, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Do you guys think this is worth creating a poll, and do you think PGI would consider the results?

I will respect all valid responses, and follow thru with the recommendations of my fellow players.

People still use the testing grounds? Whenever I want to put a new 'mech through its paces before dropping it into a live match I use the academy these days. It just has so many more useful tools at your disposal to gauge how your 'mech might perform under fire and to get a feel for it.

I use the testing grounds every time I change configurations on a mech... I have been surprised how often I forget to save a weapons configuration. But, that is why I am still tier 5, and will likely always be.

Just to note: I tried James Argent's recommendation to utilize the Academy to practice targeting skills, but there are no clan mechs in the Academy either - - -- I can only assume PGI is withholding practice against these designs intentionally.
You can speculate their reasoning if you wish, but the bottom line is it provides yet another advantage to our clan brothers.

Not 'salt' Spheroid, just observation.

You're supposed to bring your own Clan mech to the Academy, and once you swap to an Academy mech, you shoot the Clan mech you brought.

Edit: the Academy was completed before Clan mechs were introduced to the game, so that's why there aren't any there. It's nothing conspiratorial at all.

There still aren't any Clam mechs on ANY Testing Grounds map, while they could easily place them

Mining PTS had Clam mechs in the Testing Grounds

You are correct. I was merely addressing the fact that he specified the Academy. The siege testing ground maps have had Clan banners hanging from the gates, but no Clan mechs.
