So for Day 5, you have to get the Kill. A Kill Most Damage Dealt doesn't count. Kind of disappointing.

It's not hard to do. 5 matches on average should complete it plenty, provided you bring a high alpha mech and save your punch until someone is cored. Can't make it too easy for people, or they won't play for longer times.

Kill always means kill. When they mean kill or KMDD, they always specify 'kill/KMDD.'

Again, many of us aren't brawling pilots.........

I haven't used an Alpha in 10 months of playing MWO? Why would I since I don't have brawling mechs? Several of my friends specialize in recon and don't have brawling mechs. A few others now, since LRMs have been universally nerf'd and nerf'd again and re-nerf'd just recently with a quirk reduction, don't brawl and are playing with ATM mechs.... Support players.

Yes, you are correct in your assessment but, there is a larger group of players that go several matches in a row with no kills.....they get all sorts of assists and KMDD but, few kills. Nor, will they or do they own brawling platforms...

That's where I see the OP coming from. It would take me 20+ games to see 5 kills and I don't have that time for MWO anymore.

Food for thought, eh?

You don't have to brawl to get those kills. Simple mid range build with 7-8 CMPL Clan heavy mech can do it easily. Even with LRMs, 1 kill per match is very possible, as long as you know how to position yourself.

Nah, the component and damage ones were easier.

This is pretty easy, though. I can see it as a problem for people who only play a handful of matches a day, but it's no headshot.

Agree with everyone else it's easy. If you can't get kills, take out a light, load up with MGs and have at it.

Actually, after my 6th match seconds ago, I'm at three kills in my MDD..... Were they honest kills? Sort of.... 1 was an outright "last bullet". Another was chasing a fleeing light with streaks (and, I have 4 streak launchers). The last was another "stolen kill" with streaks.... Now, there were 8 KMDD's in these 6 matches.

I'm done for the day; my MWO time is up...... Not 5, even with great teamates since they were all wins.....
So, for most of us "average" potato players, it isn't about positioning.... I was exactly where I needed to be "supporting" directly the Assaults and brawling heavies.... No, I'm not changing a play style to a laser vomit mech just for a event.....

The point is, sometimes, events just aren't for the average players and since the prizes aren't any too valuable, no harm is done.

You refused to change your playstyle so there is no room for complaints. And BTW, not all average players are LRM boats. Plenty of average pugs can use lasers and ballistics just fine.

A lot of events encourage players to try out different weapons and/or play styles. You won't alway be successful but I've learned to use stuff like the GR by trying to achieve event goals and while I have a preferred play style, I am now more familiar with others and can adapt to support my team.

Good hunting,

Asym didn't have to change his loadout or playstyle...I did it with a Streak MDD. One Light on one match (loss), two Assaults and a Heavy on another (loss), and an Assault and a Medium on the last (win). There were also matches where I didn't get any kills (mostly losses), but it didn't take too many matches with a similar loadout.

If he'd had enough time to play more I have no doubt he would've gotten it. Which is less a comment on the event requirements than his ability to commit to finishing the event (whether self-imposed or by circumstance), because there's still a ton of time left for the event day.

I was able to knock it out in 4 games with my trusty CPLT-C1 (300XL, endo steel, +6 heat sinks, 2xJets, 2xLL, 2xML, 2xLRM10, 4 tons ammo; just a nice multi-range build that let's me hang back early and has good close range firepower if the missiles run out or the poo hits the fan).

You've been given 24 hours to get 5 kills, dude. I can knock that out in one good match if I'm lucky. Probably about 5 matches if I'm unlucky.

if you're not willing to change your builds or take advice from REAL average players then you really have to room to complain. If youre willing to lissen then heres a option, stay in your MDD. Use 3 atm 9 and your choice of lasers for close range. Bring enough HS to have around a 1.2 heat eff and fill the rest with ammo. Make sure you only fire your atm at 300m max. If you do this, you WILL get kills and a crap ton of damage. If you don't get atlest 1 kill a match then frankly you need to drop with some better players and learn some tactics. Because "average" players can atlest get a kill a match. /rant

Well, in most matches close to half the winning team scores no kills, 3 or 4 guys score 2 kills, and often there's one, maybe 2 that score 3 kills. Every now and again you see someone pull off 4 to 6 kills, and I've only seen 7 or more kills in a single solo queue match pulled off a handful of times in the thousands of matches I've been in.

A good player should be able to knock it out in 1 or 2 matches with his best mech, barring strange things happening.

An average player should be able to knock it out in under 10 matches, probably closer to 4-6 matches.

A below average player might need to dedicate 3 or more hours to the task, or resort to counter-productive vulture tactics that will cost his team the win but at least net him a kill or 2.

A truly bad player... well, good luck.
