Here is project of non-canonical 80t battlemech.
I could not find any mechs in the section 75-85 tons, where the main was a ballistic weapon. I think this is in some way a balance error. I think 80 tons of ballistic mech would be popular. Especially with good design and convenient hardpoints.
BLACK LURKER
Experimental production is located in the deep periphery. Mech was created for effective combat in difficult terrain conditions. A low, wide chassis with increased stability made it possible to hide well on the terrain. All weapons and a cockpit are located at the top of the mech.
The production was stopped and mothballed after the confrontation between Kerensky and Amaris began. By this time the main model range of the new fur was developed, but the beginning of deliveries to the Army of the Star League did not happen.
Мuch later, the armed forces of one of the peripheral states with the descendants of the engineering personnel were able to reopen the production and later take out the equipment. However, the distribution of fur was not received because in the peripheral states the supply of ammunition is poorly developed and the most popular are mechs with energy weapons.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
When designing mech, the main tasks were
1 - Creation of a structure capable of carrying a large amount of ballistic weapons at the highest point
2 - Convenience of maintenance of weapons and their replacement not only in the factory, but also in the field
3 - Serviceability of the engine
Engineers did not invent something completely new and unique, but they used good and reliable solutions.
The weapon in the torso is mounted from above, after which the protection is put on. The weapon is easily accessible for repair and replacement.
The engine compartment is in the front of the torso and is protected by massive armored plates. This is convenient when servicing the engine, similar to car maintenance - there is no need to disassemble half of the mech to repair the engine.
LRK-1 This is the main model, which embodied the solution of the main tasks set by the engineers. In the torso 4 AC5 are installed, 2 ML are installed in the hands. There are 6 tons of shells. The endothelial steel is mounted on the mech. The main drawback is the dependence on the supply of ammunition. In the event of military operations in remote areas, additional slots of energy weapons in the hands. STD 275 engine.

LRK-2 The second model where 2 of the 4 slot arms in the torso are replaced by additional lasers. The fur carries 2 gauss guns with 5 tons of ammunition and 6 ML. Endo steel. 275 STD. DHS. At the beginning, fire at the enemy with two gauss guns and if there is a close combat, then inflict additional damage from the lasers.

LRK-3 Chaser. The first two models showed themselves well in a positional battle, but because of the slowness they could not pursue the enemy, which allowed him to maneuver or retreat. A third model was created using a faster XL325. As a weapon, there were 3 UAC5 (6 t ammo) and 4 ML. To install such an engine, one of the guns was moved to the arm.
