Want to know how I've played 5 years having fun? By not giving a dam about meta or winning all the time while I use mechs and builds I like. Then I occasionally play in a unit before going back to solo.

Good players that want to use tactics are in units most the time. Very rarely will you find pugs able to comprehend the most basic attempts at tactics. You might get a few to move to a location with the c com but when the fighting starts good lucky getting them to work as a team.

This is a confusing post brah

If this is about CW then you are just stating old news. A lot of the original CW units are nothing compared to what they were in say 2015.

If this is about solo queue, you do realize this is the case of 12 chiefs and 0 indians almost every match and you have to play accordingly, not try to fight against it. If you are trying to drop command it or something, thats largely a fantasy.

I can't even remember the last time anyone even said hi in the in game voice in a pug match much less try and lead. Sometimes it feels like we are going up against teams that are communicating because they are just a little too organized for a pug team. Low expectations for team work are a must in QP, if you don't have this attitude then you will be very frustrated indeed.

Really, really low expectations. Finally leveling some of my assaults has been the most torturous experience I've ever had in this game, and it's pretty much 100% due to pubbies either having no clue how to play even at Tier 2/Tier 1, or just... not caring. At all.

I went into the side entrance of the tunnel on Crimson in a Kodiak last night. Enemy Kodiak comes around the corner and we start duking it out. I feel reasonably comfortable tanking him with some twisting because, hey, I've got several teammates behind me and they'll add on to my firepower and we'll blow him up real quick, right?

Nope. My own team just starts unloading into my back because they can't be bothered to reposition a couple meters to the left or right. No sudden moves, no "Agh, you jumped in front of me" moments -- I've been the only guy in the side-tunnel for a good 10, 15 seconds now. They just... couldn't be bothered to even try getting a clear shot before holding their triggers.

So I solo the enemy Kodiak, then when I turn to leave, a light comes screaming around the corner to hit me once in the back and finish the job that my own team did the majority of. What a waste of 100 tons.

Iv found that after playing the different events I’m a lot more happy playing FP scouting than QP. I miss not being able to use heavys or assaults because I don’t find invasion as much fun as scouting.
BUT QP is sometimes ok but mostly crap imo take tonight for example twice iv been firing at a mech which iv wittled down to near dead and then some brain dead numpty in a light comes charging in stands infront of me and tries to steal kill the enemy mech. I wasn’t moving a was firing repeatedly and then this **** blocks me and guess who’s fault it is when he gets shot in the back?
Once this event was complete I happily went back to FP to grind my rep and making friends.
Ps iv made one friend in all the time iv played QP and yet I made 4 in one night when the FP event was on.

Buying new mechs is fun.

Let me give you an example.

Last night i bout an ASN-21. (one of the current "meta" mechs)

3.5 miilion cbills of "fun" right there

Take mech straight to battlefield. Stock weapons, armor and zero skills because "fun"

Get Polar domination. Apologize to team in advance. Run around with 1 srm2, 1 lrm 5, 1 medium laser. Do 100 damage in loss. That was "fun" Do not earn enough XP to unlock a skill point.

Goto mechlab for the "fun" of spending another 5.5 mill cbills (engine upgrade, Endo, Ferro, Double heat sinks the usual)

9 million cbills of "fun" later mech is still garbage thanks to zero skills.

Next choice, do i spend 72,000 GXP and another 4 million c-bills to insta-master the mech or do i go for the "fun" of grinding 91 skill points(and another 4 million c-bills)

Chose the less "fun" option of Insta-master. Then there's the "fun" of the skill tree. 91 chances to make the wrong decision which will lead to the mech being less "fun"

Now i'm up to 13 million cbills of "fun" for a 40 ton mech.

All i can say, if i wasn't all ready loaded with c-bills and GXP, this game would be alot less "fun"

LoL, OK then bring back modules because that farming was more fun? Good one.

I have 96 mechs.

If i had to grind them on the Skill-tree the cbill tax would be 397 million cbills. (96 x 4.14 miilion)
Under the old module system the most i spent for 1 mech was 20 million cbills.(most mechs were in the 11-14 range)
Thanks to module swapping i didn't have to buy 96 x 20.
Even a max dropdeck would only cost 80 million (20mil cbills x4) Leaving me 300 million.

Now would you rather swap modules and have 300 million cbills to buy mechs or would you rather grind those 300 million for the skill tree?

Best part is, i can swap the same modules onto a brand new mech and it would't be utter crap fresh out of the box.

Four simple words will make MWO muuuuch better for a good majority of the pilots. Say it along with me.... "It's just a GAME."

Play by this mantra, and your sessions will improve drastically. Posted Image

A brand new mech that still needs to be mastered by purchasing 2 variants and near mastering them also.

Module swapping was pretty tedious but still a nice feature sure, but even noobs would still need to obtain enough to fill a dropdeck to feel competitive, that's what some 16 modules minimum?

I can understand that you feel annoyed that you "already did your grinding" back when with modules and may feel a bit jipped there, but it was MORE of a grindapalooza for new players prior to the skill tree by a pretty decent margin too, with the exception of perhaps some of the cheapest mechs in the game.

I'm looking forward to the new FP map.

A series of mountains of salt. It's going to be called "Forum Warrior Valley". The environment is so salty that mechs start to dissolve immediately and any heavy use of voip or chat just makes you break down more quickly. Also no matter what, everyone loses.

It should be very familiar for me.

Exactly! Grab a beverage, and a few team mates (or pilots you like), and start doing the stompy robot tango.

DON'T READ THE FORUMS!!!

It's too late for me and many that are reading this, but maybe, just maybe this is the first ever post you've read here. Sure, you're 2 pages in already so it might already be too late, but there's still a chance for you.

The forums are where those of us with a masochistic streak go to read about how PGI keeps it's record (I mean it's got to be a record right?) of ham-handedness intact. Honestly, you'd think after over 4 years that they'd reduce the frequency of their mistakes, but nope.

Anyhow, I digress.

Don't read these forums, they will only serve to depress or anger you, regardless of if you are a white or black knight type of person. The forums don't discriminate, they frustrate everyone equally. About the only ones not frustrated are probably the people at PGI, since they had abandoned them for the safety of TWITTER where there's a 140 character limit and blocking negativity is a lot easier.

Play the game. Understand that all it is and all it will ever be is an arena shooter. Enjoy the overall nice looking Mechs and the basic mechanics of the game.

That's it. Now block this website and carry on.

I can't get out of trying to play Battletech instead of MWO. I like stock mechs... Posted Image

To me MWO is like the Ewok movies. You know they're based on the Star Wars universe. You might even enjoy them a little. But you know they're not "Star Wars".
