I've always decried pure laser vomit as the epitome of boring. Lazy. Vanilla.

And then PGI brought out the Nova Cat. I wanted it for the stupid fun of being the ultimate SpudGun, the thought of flinging 90 LRMs with abandon.

But then I loaded the Prime up, with 2x LPL in the Torsos, and 5x MPL in the Arms, a TC1 and rots and rots of Heatsinks.

And for some reason it was fun in the way that Wubhammer, Black Knights, etc never were.

What black magic have you bewitched me with, PGI??????

I run the same loadout on one variant. the shear firepower you wield is somewhat intoxicating. Of course you pay for it with torsos the size of a barn and legs that are easy to hit and strip despite having full armor.

eh, now that i'm playing it more....people ct me more than i lose my arms or torsos, i mean really this is my fault since i'm not splashing the damage, but still, people don't target my arms or torsos.

Me since i own the NCT I either rip off the arms first or core out the back, since it has poop for frontal armor

Well Bishop you couldn't have picked a safer mech to chose. It's relatively stupid proof.

I felt the same way when I gave up on lasers and settled into splat brawling. I was like, OK vader fine, you're my pops, now lets do this. Every time I break distance on a laser boat and tank most of his damage I hear the emperor in my head;

Glad to hear you have found something fun. I bit the bullet and picked up a nighstar pack last night. Ive been having fun with the mechs even though im pretty sucky at assaults. Plays a lot like a king crab with arms that are awkward in a different way!

not having either of those issues to any noticeable
degrees, but the STs are decent sized targets for a certainty.

Watching the average match around me, I am convinced there is no proofing for stupid

That'd be fine, with a giant engine of course. =)

Those missiles in the arm though... how will you shield? And the NCT doesn't let you put a bigger engine in, and by default it is too slow to pull that kind of loadout off.

I agree, efficiency is a borefest. I play maybe 10 games in a row and always find myself going back to missiles even though they make the game a major PITA to play.

Don't act like that build actually isn't quite solid at melting peoples faces... as long as you have a reasonably aggressive team, 1000 damage easy. There are some matches where I would prefer a UAC20 or AC20 and 3 SRM6s on a Victor over laser vomit.

That's actually one of the best stock builds available, so it's not as much of a sacrifice as you're making it sound. :P

aside from a little too much rear armor.. can't see the issue. It actually runs better stock here than it does in TT or MW4.

don't tell that to the people I've been killing with it. I made a career out of a 70 kph Hunchback that was too slow for it's loadout..... *shrugs*.

Never underestimate the speed of that zombie coming for you....
