Quickplay Leaderboard Stats

Now up to Season 15. I will update it when Season 16 ends in a few days. All numbers provided are filtered to players who played 10 matches or more in each month, with the sole exception of the MatchesPlayed sheet, which does show all players until Season 6.
Thanks to Scurro and Pineapple Salad for retrieving the data off of the leaderboards themselves so that I can do these sorts of things with it.
If you're not familiar with Google Sheets, don't miss the extra tabs at the bottom!

Very neat. Thanks for your work, which is as interesting and well presented as usual.

I suppose I neglected to post it here on the forums.

Like, people like to complain a lot about meta this and balance that, but apparently playing REALLY off-meta 'mechs/loadouts is still fine to get me over the Top 5% threshold on MS and K:D, and I'm not exactly a vet either considering I started playing in early September. Is the game actually much better balanced at non-super-sweaty-tournament-level than people think, or is the skill gap between decent players and the average player really that large?

Imo, the skill gap between decent players and everybody else is indeed depressingly large. I really don't know what it is about this game that people can't aim, have no situational awareness, sometimes don't even notice enemies that are in their field of view, don't look at paperdolls, can't read a map, don't know how their weapons work, can't manage heat, poor judgement, etc etc etc ... but I wish there was something I could do about it. I may be getting a computer capable of recording and video editing soon... maybe I could just start a tutorial series. But at the same time... I feel like it's all a little bit too late.

W/L maybe, but not the other ones. I've got a very mediocre W/L, for instance, but my K/D and AMS put me around the top 5%.
This comports with screenshots I've got of running a 2xRAC-5 Bushwacker -- about as far from tryhard meta as you can get -- yet still topping damage/kills/match score on my team and all but one or two of the opposing team... and still losing. Simply put, this is a very strongly team-focused game and carrying is all but impossible if the opposition is any good at all.

Why'd you have to make me look at your stats? I don't even care... But of course I notice you drop off the map at season 13 and beyond, so are you sure you aren't cooking your stats there? (i.e. this being an alt).. I mean I have played almost as many games as you have in total in my season 15 alone.

I started playing in early September of this year, so Season 13 is about right.

I think the issue is that in an age of 360 no scope yolo matches and fast paced gaming this game is a bit slower and requires less twitch skills and more thought. Even in its current "lase ALL THE THINGS" state. It's not in the wheelhouse of most gamers like it would have been 20 years ago.

But on the other hand, lights had a win ratio below 1.0 for 12 out of 15 seasons.

It's fine. As long as PGI doesn't nerf MGs even further, the numbers should stay around the positive side of 1:1.
*edit* I forgot that PGI nerfed medium lasers recently. That could negatively affect las-vomit Lights' performance.

The numbers just don't sit right with me there, your stats assert you started playing pretty recently and had no issues smashing into way above average scores, from your very first games. I am not saying it is impossible or even I guess unlikely with some, but it certainly looks strange.

You have also been a member since 2013 on this account, and have posted in those years before you had apparently even played... So yeah, it looks a little cooked.
Um... wat?
I mean, I guess it's not entirely impossible that somebody else used the same name before? But where are you getting 2013 from?
I chalk my performance up to having been playing Mechwarrior since '95, so the learning curve wasn't nearly as high as it would be for someone who's got MWO as their first experience with the game style.

Yeah, there is this frustrating tendency to over emphasize builds and balance. It matters to an extent at the very tip-top level or if you're building mechs really badly, or if you're looking at it from a population point of view where variables even out, but otherwise there are so many more important things that players should be focusing on.
It reminds me of when I played Starcraft 2. People at low levels would rant and rave about how they were being beat by some OP strategy or race. However, when you watched their replays, it was riddled with mistakes and sloppiness. If they had just cleaned up their play, they would slaughter 99% of the guys that were playing the "OP strategy". Does it mean they were wrong? Maybe, maybe not. But there is so much you can do when there are huge inefficiencies and mistakes in everyone's play.
I think people would be better off if they just told themselves the game is balanced and that the rest is up to them. It's a much more productive state of mind.

Nevermind, just saw another post saying that both Solo and Group are included. Was wondering how some people (even the very best) could maintain such high win/loss ratios. Now I know. Actually feeling pretty good about my exclusively solo stats now.
Side note to PGI, ever thought about splitting up Solo and Group stats?

My mistake there I looked at Tarogato's profile somehow.

Imo, ping and frame rates affects gameplay a lot in this game, especially due to hit reg. 8 ping vs 200 ping is vastly different different for me in terms of matchscore. Imo, most players are blessed/cursed simply by virtue of their ping rather than skills.
