Trying to figure out the last collector pack I need. Thanatos or Hellspawn? Has to be IS. Might have to get an Archer and live the LRM boat life :D

Personally, if it was me I'd go with the Hellspawn. Mostly because it's so much easier to find matches in a medium than a heavy. I also expect the thanny to have a tough time distinguishing itself given the existing lineup, while the IS medium lineup is much less meta-tastic so there's some opportunities for an ECM skirmisher.

Given PGI's trend of giving just smattering amount of quirks to IS mechs nowadays, despite clear tech imbalance, I'd skip IS mech packs entirely. But that's just me.

They'll both suffer from terrible hitboxes, i suppose. I personally dig the Hellspawn more, and i'd like to have the special variant, but $40 is too much, so i'll have to pass. Maybe I'll buy the Paralyzer at some point. Maybe not.

I find it a bit sad, that the special variant camos are hidden behind huge paywalls, unless you really want the 3 standards as well... I'd buy the Hellspawn special for $15 (medium hero price) but not for $40.

What IS mechs do you currently own? I think the Bushwacker base pack is excellent, as is the Javelin base pack. I like my Osiris pack though I'd rate the Javelin a bit higher; if you're better with lasers than missiles you might do better with the Osiris than the Javelin.

I don't own any Assassins but people have mentioned them being a good IS mech and I've seen them do good things, so they might be a mech to look at to fill out your quota.

If you like to run in and out of enemy lances toying with their emotions while dishing out damage and coming out relatively ok (i.e. Assassin gameplay) - Hellspawn

If you enjoy an upfront battle, brawling (Zeus would be a good example of how hardpoints will be spread out) - Thanatos

Other than that, what do you like more? Fast mediums or hard hitting heavies?

I personally rate the Osiris a bit higher, but only because SRMs are just a bit too heavy for IS lights. I still enjoy the 6xSRM2 Javelin very much. In both cases the reinforcements aren't needed.

Assassin 21 and 23 are both excellent, and both come with the standard pack. I highly recommend them.

So far with the amount of time I've actually had to spend in the game, I've found success really with only two modes - hanging back and LRM'ing or going brawler in a Kodiak. Much more of a fan of brawling to be honest. I think I am leaning towards the Thanatos.

Well, the hellspawn looks like crap, visually. While the Thanatos looks kick ***! But with the recent trend for crap animation means it'll probably wander around with a stick up its butt.

Just Don't.

Assassin Collector is probably the most reasonable deal, taking into account that the S variant is also the best variant.
