IS drops 100% meta Bushwackers most of the time and we're suppose to brawl with them??? I've 13 matches left in Scouting and I've played > 75 matches......

I consider myself an casual player and it's not possible to brawl a 55 ton meta and win unless you are in a 50 ton meta.....which, I don't own nor would ever own because some of us DO NOT BRAWL.....just ain't my thing......

You could try a long ranged harasser instead.

MLX with 1x ERPPC (MLX-G right torso so you can strip the right arm) (ECM is optional)
ACW-2 with 2x ERLL + an XL 350
ACW-2 with 2x ERPPC + an XL 325
VPR with 2x ERLL
VPR-C with 5x ERML (400m+ is enough range with that speed advantage)
IFR-P with 2 ERLL (ECM is optional)
SHC with 2x ERLL or 2x ERPPC (ECM is optional)

Anything going 100kph+ that can out range SRMs should be fine, but more range is better.

Post a video and we may be able to help you. Otherwise, you may as well claim to have seen Jesus riding astride a floating Kodiak.

With regard to Scouting: saying "I don't want to brawl in Scouting " is the same as saying "I don't want to hit the ball in baseball".

As you suggest, better to save yourself (and the people you drop with) the frustration and just play some other game where you're willing to do whatever success requires.

I would have loved to have done that.... I've never seen anything like it either and I know it's hard to believe....

It's not unreasonable to expect that a "scouting" mission segment of a game have something to do with, anything to do with actually scouting and data collection..................I know, that angers the brawling community because, oh my, we might upset status quo...... Oh God, never that....

No, just the opposite.... I will keep playing; because I promised my CSM I'd stay and scout this train wreck until MW5 drops or when Overwatch beta drops and then, MWO becomes a P/T game because I like MW. Just a bit frustrated at the moment.

Let's be fair, Scouting is the only place you can bring a brawling 'mech and be pretty sure you're not just going to got picked apart from 800m+ away.

I've had sub 100 matches in scouting. In my case it is usually caused by getting focus fired so rapidly that I can't do much damage myself. Sad that your tolerance doesn't extend to those killed by skilled enemies.

Can't torso twist leg shots.

OK, "skilled enemies?"

Let's see: 4 meta bushwackers, all experienced pilots from the same team, fighting ACH's and SHC's......skill or "them with the most wins every time (and, we had three very good players (I'm a potato) and a good caller and still got absolutely stomped). Their combat throw weight & mass was several times our forces throw weight and the armor half again more than ours.... We had mobility and that didn't help us at all...

I do apologize for being negative... Like I said, I'll keep trying until the event is over. Either way, thanks for the suggestions and assistance..... Time to go running.......

What other explanations can be offered to explain failure to make 100?
  • low spec computers
  • playing while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs
  • Being a non-English speaker, while events are written and described in English without translation.
Also don't tell me PGI didn't give enough out to invest in mech upgrades. Lots of free premium and c-bills treats were awarded. Enough to afford a basic engine upgrade when augmenting regular earnings.

Maybe they were piloting light mechs, or non-meta.

Bear in mind also that if someone is new and getting to grips with the game, a consistent average can be a difficult thing to maintain. I remember celebrating like an overly enthusiastic boy band fan when I first scored over 500 damage - back when I considered 200 to be a decent average. That was 8v8 tho.

Or maybe they're all using joysticks.

Folks are expressing disdain and approbation for those who post sub 100 score games.

I suggested a legitimate reason that can happen, based on personal experience. Further I have seen it happen to far better players than myself.

I did not specify any particular game make up, it can happen with any 4 mechs vs any 4 mechs.

Yes, I would say any team that consistently and with a good degree of accuracy focus fires one enemy at a time, taking both legs rapidly and efficiently, bam, bam, bam, is displaying a level of skill. It doesn't matter what mechs they are piloting, I've seen it done with a large variety of mechs, both clan and IS.

Can sub 100 scores happen due to lack of skill? Absolutely. But there are other, very valid reasons.

If complaining was a measure of skill, Asym would rank in top 10 among MWO forumers. :P

OP didnt single out non-english speakers. He simply suggested that non-english speakers would not know how the event works and therefore would be failing to qualify as a result. There is nothing racist about this. Entirely possible that non english speakers would not be able to read mechlab descriptions either which would explain people firing LRMs within minimum range, because they just have no idea.

In the past i used to play a japanese language game on the gameboy. With no english translations, i had to hit random buttons to figure out what did what and never ended up being able to finish it. Language barrier is a huge deal.

Events bring out new/casual players. The quality of teams becomes much more variable.

Big picture, the more players the better.

Woo-Hoo ! I'd be top rated at least ! thanks !

Face it, we are all customers. And, being a customer, I have expectations for and of the "stuff" I find important...
PGI won't see a penny of real money from me until they start fixing this train wreck. Am I alone in this?
I won't farm spawn points. And got Tk'd for allowing the dropping team a chance.... Is that complaining?
I am fighting in matches where the game play dynamics are so out-of-whack that even your caliber of players can't win???
I don't think I am better than anyone else and I still try to help others where I can.... Is that complaining?
I am still here when everyone else I know personally has left this game.....even the crew that recruited me....
So please, go right ahead and have some fun, PGI reads these posts and uses what they find in whatever decision making cycle they use... Of all of the games I've studied, they ALL DO..............
Maybe, something I relate may be implemented and use? And, if I am complaining, I have every right, I am a customer...
Invite me some night to drop, maybe you can teach me something.

I have "spent" money and got screwed like a lot of others whose mechs were nerf'd into retirement.
I will not repeat the same mistake.

totally agree, get focused fired on first by a experienced team and if you live longer than 30 seconds (6-8 salvos of my nova prime at best) you have done well.
Also when you are the only 50 ton mech in the group while the rest take ach or sch you are going down first baby.

A good team focus fires on a single mech. If you are focused on you try to dodge, jump, fire and do as much damage as possible while hopefully the rest of your team are getting back shots and low damage kills. You are the sacrifice while your team wins.

I feel you, I often think the same thought.
