Hello, hello, hello,

I was wondering the following, are the mech offert as part of the 2017 appreciation program are worth being played or not?
I'm toying with buying a IS package and I wonder if the Griffin offered is any good.

Shoot straight

I found all the Griffin's to be pretty good actually, this one is going to be a beast with 4 Ballistics. :)
HARDPOINTS: 5M

Left Torso: 2 Energy, 1 AMS

Right Torso: 2 Missile

Right Arm: 4 Ballistic (Actuators: Upper, Lower, Hand)

I think all of the rewards mechs have something interesting about them. The Urbanmech has missiles, the Griffin has the 'ballistic fist', the Kit Fox has torso missiles, the linebacker has jump jets, and the Victor has its ballistic hardpoints spread across the mech instead of all bunched in the right arm.

Yeah Linebacker with JJs is going to be fun! Things is already the fastest heavy in the game if I remember right. :)

Urbie is a fun mech. One with missiles is just different. We'll see.

Griffin, well with the new ballistics it may be fun. But it will be a very foreign experience because it will play like a Wolverine.

The Victor I felt was worthy enough for me to try for.

The Linebacker didn't interest me. It can jump. Yay. Wasn't worth me getting Clan collectors over.

The Kitfox I feel is totally worth it; a left arm ECM means we can try builds with the right arm instead of being stuck with the right arm ECM + triple AMS. But that's just me.

The final reward is just some trinkets.

I happen to like Victors, mind you. Most people don't.

We don't know if the griffin is any good, because it's not in game yet. I am visualizing a counter-light/skirmisher with Streak SRM6's, MG's and a few ML's - to sweep the legs - or blow off the arms :)

we will not know for sure how good they are until they have been released, and it is too late to get the "loyalty" varient, they will all eventuraly be available for cbills albeit without the unique paint job or 30% cbill boost.

the Griffin is one of my favorate chassis, and I had already purchased a few IS preorders so I have that

I love the idea of a jumping Linebacker, and also love the idea of a 12MC+3 HSL 20 ton Mech so I purchased the Piranah colectors pack, and as the Viper is a favorate of mine I upgraded to the collectors pack of that to lock in the linebacker, so I
have Linebacker and the Kit Fox,

I purchased some MC last week for the "extra free" Grinner wolfhound hero, so that locked in the Urbie.

As I usualy prefer lighter Mechs, the Victor does not interest me so I am not spending the extra on IS collectors packs.

the above was my thaught process when I purchased stuff relating to this years rewards, but by the time they were announced I had purchased enough to lock in the Clan and IS basic rewards regardless

It did not. We have until the 14th before the patch.

Ok, I want the Griffin, I need to find an IS package to buy. Preferably a hero. Any that stands out?

The Victor with Ballistic on each torso looks promising!

If you want single heroes I would go for a K9 or Grinner at $10.

For $20 packages the Rifleman, Warhammer, Marauder or Bushwacker are my picks.

Honorable mention goes to the Javelin package which is outstanding bargain at $15. It was the last package to include banked premium time, which is highly valuable in itself. Although overshadowed by the Assassin the Javelin still gives a good account of itself.

Hope that helps.

The 5M doesn't look that good to me honestly. I predict it will be to Griffins what the 7D is to Wolverines. Loyalty mechs are hit or miss in their relative power rankings. Griffins are still very good. Try to buy a 2N for c-bills at some point.

The ballistic Griffin will be a funny toy but nothing more.
The capital sin of the Griffin always was that he looses arm weapons too easy....so bringing in big ballistics as main gun will be a moot point.
See the most used Griffin is the 2N...and for everyone that knows his job it is not the ECM that makes this birdy worth while.
This is also the reason you never see the GRF-1S with 3LLasers in one arm.
It's a waste of time.

2 MRM's with a LMG fist sounds fun to me.. and probably pretty decent too.

TY, this was exactly what I was looking for.
I am not a fan on those two though (nothing wrong with the mechs, they just do not appeal to me.

Any clan hero that stand out atm?
If I am spending $$ I would rather have an hero for the 30% c-bill bonus.

What about the Assassin package?

Ok, good to know, I will have a look at the 2N.

Linebacker and Victor will be good, Griffin is terrible, and Urbie will be fun. The last mech is forgettable.
