As the title says, I have seen in the last 4 days, Lop-sided wins and losses being the norm in QP now. There have been some close matches yes, but that used to be normal.

Just today, 5 matches and all have been lop-sided losses. Some are even wondering if something is up?

Anyone else experiencing this?

Welcome to the new reality....

There is an upside.......now, where did PGI put that upside thingy.....oh heck, we lost it again.....oh, that's right, come to mecon and we'll tell you there how great it is going to be......woo-hoo, can't wait till PGI anounces the new thingy thing and the old MWO will be "just fine...".....well, at least until January when the excitement wanes and we still haven't seen the new thingy PGI promised.....wait, didn't some founder say we haven't seen new thingy's promised in 2013, 14, 15? Could it be we are expecting a different outcome? Oh pooh.

(there was no alcohol or substances involved in the creation of this "dark humor" response..... I guess it was the um-teemth stomp has adled my senses or the win because 1/3 of the other team DC'd......) Apologies.....

People are getting desperate on having as many drops as possible, now that the event is nearing the end.

Dude, the core gameplay of the game is a spiral of death. It's the norm for a very logical reason.

Hmmmm..... this game has been having lopsided wins since it's creation. Any game that focuses so much on team work always does.

It gets worse as older bads who normally barely play anymore show up for the events.

Since Tier is essentially a "time played" bar, this means matchmakers are flooded with high tier, low skill players in older and frequently badly built chassis.

This inflames the already stomp-prone system.

Because in matches without respawns, those "lopsided" victories are usually the balanced ones.

Because this game snowballs hard. Once one mech dies the opposing team has an immediate advantage and the match snowballs from there. Even super balanced teams with a 50/50 chance will often end up 12-0 because of this.

Why wouldn't lopsided matches be common? All it takes is one side to lose a single out-of-position mech, and the opposing team immediately has ~10% more armor and firepower to widen the gap. A good team can turn that disadvantage around, but more often things will continue to snowball.

To get a close 12-11 game you need a very narrow set of circumstances short of two rows of mechs standing face to face shooting at each other a la the Revolutionary War.

... at least two years, if not ever.
There have always been stomps and close games.
The rest is subjective.

This is definitely a part of the reason I know a bunch of people who are Tier 1 who probably shouldn't be but have been playing for a long time enough to get to Tier 1. Also people bringing practically useless(except of Polar I guess) LRM assaults really doesn't help either.

p.s I saw a MCII-4 with 4x LRM20+A and a tag laser nothing else. Like....I don't even understand how that person thought that was a good idea.

Why are so many of your acting like this is a new phenomenon? I joined this game back in early 2014 and it has ALWAYS been this way.

I would say the event grind has taken it's toll on people I play with. Burns you out, lots on both teams making poor choices which frustrates everyone they play with.

its like this even when there arnt events going on.

its what happens when matchmaker puts people in tiers based on win/loss instead of matchscore

because all the potatos get carried into higher tiers they dont belong in simply by playing enough games

your tier ranking should only go up based on match score. win/loss should have nothing to do with it.

matchmaker might actually work if your tier reflected your individual skill rather than your ability to get carried by others

So reward people for playing like a selfish ***** or gaming stats and driving antisocial performance I a team v team game.

The would absolutely make the MM worse because it bases trying to match teams odds of winning on behaviors only tangentially related to winning. It's trying to get the matchmaker to predict winning without giving it anything useful to do so.

That's about the only thing worse than the Tier system, which is the QP equivalent of One Bukkit. Hey, if we're all eventually in T1 won't matches get made so fast!

All matches are close, up to a point. Once one team has a numerical/tonnage advantage it tends to snowball from there. For the years I have played the 2/1 k/d or worse stomp has been the norm. Those close matches decided in the last seconds or with the last one on one mech fight are the decided minority.
