The Progenitor Op Mech

For me it goes way...way....back to closed beta if I recall correctly. I'm having trouble recalling if it was the Hunchback with 9 medium lasers or the Catapult, aka Splatapult, that was wrecking face at the time.
Moving forward there was a brief period where the Stalker scared the crap outta me. Shortly thereafter I learned to take it's ears off and the fear died.
Stormcrows were deadly at first introduction.
Direwolfs had that HUGE facetime alpha.
Timberwolfs were so nimble and dangerous.
Then the Kodiak...for awhile it was da bomb.
Did I miss anything (of course I did)?

my how far its fallen...

30-40 PPFLD is STILL an issue
its just not as much of an issue as it once was because now we have bigger issues like 70+ damage laser vomits
but PGI still needs to address both issues.

Splatapult was quick, had JJs and due to SRM damage overlap bug could one shot kill almost any mech.

Splatcat didn't really shine until after the Streakcats stacking onto Raven 3Ls reigned supreme. That would be another thing, Raven 3Ls, if you saw us with our 8 bright green/yellow Squawkmechs in group that would be gg. Splatcat made its entrance shortly after.
The rest is history.

Small lasers, actually
Back when there was only SHS
They alone were responsible for the doubled heat they have/had

I remember it quite distinctly, as I was exclusively piloting Jenners at the time.

2x AC20
2x GR
SSRM-2 "Shaken Baby and Blinding" mode
SRM6 Splatcat
Until the Dakka war criminals Cataphract and Jaggermech, it seems like the Catapult was always the mech to make the tears flow.
That said, my unofficial first "OP" mech? Raven-3L. ECM back in the beginning was just absolutely stupidly OP. I literally feared running into a Raven more than I did an Atlas "back in the day".

Boomcats were nasty, but that was because of map size, once maps were of a sensible area, they fell away as you had to be xl or so slow mechs could walk backwards and kite them.
splatcats strange how they became a feared mech as people were complaining about how bad hit reg was and yet lights evaporated in a volley..
