Super stoked for this monster even if it turns out to be garbage.

It'll probably need an LFE, but still might be fun.

Just looks at the scale comparisons and I want to know what PGI is smoking becuase it is obvious something is way, way off. The Thanatos makes the Night Gyr looks like a medium mech in comparison. It is about the same height but everything is thicker from the front profile and from the side profile there is even more of a huge difference, hell it is at least twice as thick from the side as any of the other mechs it is compared against.

Seriously someone hit the bottle quite hard before they "volumetrically" scaled the Thantos so all I got to say is....

PGI, YOU GOT 4 DAYS TO GET THIS THING BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD AND SCALED CORRECTLY!!!

Volume looks pretty close.
Is Thanatos a bad mech shape?
For certain, side torso width is perfect for keeping lasers on from any angle while it is moving.

Boop... another mech that will melt instantly.
Keep increasing TTK, so focus fire matters more and more, and potatoes get relatively reckt even worse..

yes we were much better off before when we had assault sized mediums, smurf sized lights, etc.

Correct

It's not like it made those same Assault sized Mediums any larger?

Green is new, BTW

Was the ShaqHawk a greater outlier? He was the poster child for oversized Meds (because lanky), but I didn't have him already exported.

The Great Gimpening did not improve the game. It broke a weight class as a whole, which still hasn't recovered.

or it exposed a glaring exploit..... but whatever helps you sleep at night. I'm happy as a clam they finally saw some semblance of reason, even if some folks don't like it.

I mean it nerfed lights that were already the worst of the weight classes. Yay, I guess?

But bro, it totally improved the game!

Look at all the viable Spheroid Lights we have because of this change!
Look at all the viable Spheroid mechs, period...

Success!

Its only still bigger by a mosquito's crotchet, its practically the same size. Forgive me if I'm wrong but its not the best example of a size increase breaking a 'mech class.

In regards to the original post the Thantos looks quite OK, its not like size is the only factor when considering the performance of a mech

It was more an ironic example of how the re-scale "addressed" assault sized mediums.

And oversized mech getting bigger proves the point perfectly

Yeah those ones seem to be doing OK. I quite often see them pulling down damage from 300-1200 in matches coupled with 2-6 kills.

Added comment: One of the things that people conveniently ignore when they talk about Light queues being low percentages is that most people play Mech games to pilot big Mechs that feel like big Mechs. Lights for the most part feel like you are playing a commando in CoD or your average Joe Blow in PUBG. They sure do not feel like 20+ ton war machines. That fact plays in to why Lights are played less often that Mediums and Heavies in a MechWarrior game. It is not necessarily that Lights are oversized or underpowered because, in the right hands, Lights are devastating in this game.

I don't play lights often because I have to be in a certain state of mind to play them, and I am not very often in that state of mind.

This is exactly the reason I never play lights.

I'm sad about some lights that got resized. Specifically the Jenner IIC.

if they were only viable because of being broke as heck, I guess that speaks more about the pilots...since oddly I see people able to pilot em just fine now.

Crazy concept...less armor and firepower... only advantage is speed... takes more skill than average to do well in? And thus. being harder are much less represented than the usual path of EZmode most gamers embrace? Wow. Sorry you thought that lights running through whole teams almost unscathed (aka the old way) was the "right" way.

On a related note, is it just me or is there a huge size difference between 85 tonners and 90 tonners?

Battlemaster vs Highlander size comparison comes to mind. 5 tons difference, but the battlemaster is so tiny.

Volume scaling is a load of bunk.

The Panther is just about as tall as the Awesome. Same with the Assassin and other low tonnage mechs.

I think everything below 100 tons needs to have a 45% reduction in volume.
