Your entire argument is dismantled in this single quote.
All strikes need to be focused in order to do good damage, my friend.

I gave you the math that demonstrates that you are wrong in that very same post. And that was without even getting into things like SRMs and AC/20s that are just point-and-click.

At this point, it's either trolling, or ignorance on a scale that cannot be conversed with.

As far as I'm concerned, the Myst Lynx was great when it first came out.

I used it as a light LRM + laser harraser and for rushing gens before they were armored.

Than the Arctic Cheetah came out, and the Myst Lynx fell into oblivion. Until the MG-boat G variant came out.

Now the Myst Lynx is fun again, but it's played like a glass cannon. Great for dealing boated MG damage, but paper thin.

Compared to a stealth locust or stealth commndo, or an Assassin, it's not half as useful or annoying.

I foretell it will once again fall into disuse, once the Piranha is out for cbills.

Don't move the goalposts. "Suffering damage" and "800+ damage" are two very different things. I never said a MLX will never do damage. I specifically stated that your team has to be incredibly bad to let one get away with 800+ damage.

There is no magical "knowing when to engage" that changes the amount of facetime you need to deal 800+ damage with machine guns. 8 machine guns is 8 DPS; throw on a couple lasers of your choice and you can get it up to about 10 DPS. That's 80 seconds of facetime. Machineguns are not poke-trade weapons.

If your team cannot land 58 damage on those big, chunky arms in nearly a minute and a half, then they're bad.

Edit: I actually just had a match that illustrates this point. Driving an ARC-2R with 2xALRM-20 and 5xISML. End of the match (team got stomped hard), had an enemy MLX rush me with his memeguns trying to scrape up a kill. Showed up on Seismic, so I was ready and waiting for him to come around that corner. First shot took off his left arm, second shot took off his right arm, GG. He had 4.4 seconds to do damage before I took all his weapons.

So, you refute my claim that it's due to the skill of the MLX pilot & their ability to engage/disengage with a story of MLX that did a bad engagement? Sure, most cases, an ambush from behind is a good engagement. But in your scenario, you had a good counter (seismic) and he also attacked you when you weren't already engaged with another target. Otherwise, you wouldn't bother turning around and shooting the 25T flea on your back. It was also his fault for not disengaging the moment you began turning around.
With my MLX-LMG boat, I am fully capable of diving into a full-on brawl and crit out enemies with only minor damage, escaping with both arms intact. You really have to use the JJs and rest of the mobility to maximize this ability too.
It doesn't have to be a bad team to suffer at the hands of the MLX-LMG boater, the MLX can just as easily use his smaller frame and mobility to his advantage. As much as I hate to toot my own horn, I just posted a personal MLX highligh-reel on Youtube.

The thing's likely gonna have armor made of paper-mache, just look at it menacingly and it'll go crit!

Okay. Finally a thread I feel I can handle with an appropriate level of experience, lol. I made this video last week hitting most of the oft-repeated complaints about the MLX-G. It's not a great video but I'm learning. TL;DW - the MLX-G is still a Mist Lynx, and not even the most durable one, so please stop complaining and learn the numerous, easy, and deadly counters for us. There is nothing OP about MGs or Lynxes or MGs on Lynxes.

This however...

Quote

The other issue is that the MLX-G isnt OP...its that the other MLX variants suck. 25 tonner with 2x missiles and 2x energy hardpoints is largely pointless. Really needs massive weapon quirks. Mist lynx was ignored till the G variant came out because they didnt have enough firepower. - Jun Watarase

...is 100% accurate.

Here's a peek into our minds, if it helps: While many pilots are reading up on the Meta and using Smurphy's, we're practicing at the Bolshoi and memorizing Sun Tzu. We're not interested in what we should be doing as a Light using vanilla all-purpose tactics, we're focused on what we can do as Mist Lynx with our jump jets, size, agility, and reputation. We love it when your Alpha Lance flanks our team - it means you're unprotected and just waiting to be ripped apart. Your screams will pull your Alpha Lance back quicker than our bullets ever would so we'll leave your legged, half-dead smoking corpse-mech behind to explain through salty tears what happened when they arrive... by which time we'll be back with our buddies coordinating a push now that you're all embarrassed and emotional. You think we're only interested in your rear torso? Think again - we want your weapons, your ammo, your armor, your attention. We want you to back up against a wall and think you've outwitted us because it means you're off the frontline and then we'll run off for a couple seconds - long enough for you to leave that wall and feel smug - and then get right back in your grill. We love to die amidst Red's Charlies because that's our life's ambition - to bring shame upon you for your terrible accuracy that a such a tiny little dancer could take your thirty seconds of combined effort to finally bring down. Oh, we'll work with our team - we're no lone wolves - and coordination is really helpful. It's why we have this Clan Active Probe bolted into our chassis to the point of being structurally integral and it's great for scouting and marking targets. Yet our greatest contribution to our team's victory isn't our weapons or speed or DPS. It's the Truth. The Truth that you think we're easy kills and useless without our arms means we're going to squirrel your greedy pilots and jump and twist and catch all your LRMs with our one-legged cherry CT because every time you put us under your reticule it means we have Eleven Bigger Friends just chomping at the bit to show you how that's a Bad Idea. Meta says that we're supposed to wait until your components are open and you laugh because you have all your armor and we run right up on your freshly-painted Compensating-For-Something and spill a thousand rounds of machine gun fire and volleys of lasers into your leg and then fly away over your head because you need to learn the Truth that armor that doesn't move doesn't work for long. Every single thing we do someone else can do better... but we're not doing single things. We're jumping and shooting and running and sniping and spotting and spinning and squirreling and dying and winning all at the same time. Our greatest strength is the Red's greatest weakness - that they embrace life. Koshi means Small Death.

We're not Overpowered, we're Unexpected.
