20 ton clan mech with higher speed than what the max engine usually gives, masc, and high mounted energy hardpoints (above cockpit level as pictured above).

The speed alone means they couldn't do it.

Yes, yes, yearning Clanner masses wanting an ultraincredibly fast light mech for no truly good reason now that they got their 20 tonner.

Tell you what, let's compromise on this:

We'll have a release of the Firemoth, Flea and a Quad at the same time. Everyone wins.

clan doesnt really have a mech to take up the locust/commando role. the closest they have i think is the mist lynx, the cheeto is close but its more of a heavy weapon slinger than a fast hit and run bot. but that thing is on the slow side. we need more fast clan lights.

To be fair, you have the Piranha, which is a better mech than the Fire Moth.

I still want my Fire Moth.

But don't pretend like clans still don't have that option, because they actually do now.

I really want the Firemoth. This game would be the first to have all 16 original Clan omnimechs playable. I really want it to happen sometime.

Still more plausible than hatchetman.

Good grief people, the Fire Moth is perfectly fine. All it would need is a simple negative speed quirk.

Or not let masc boost it's speed and only boost agility, I mean that's a fair trade.

Give a negative speed quirk to the mech whose entire purpose of existing is to run really really fast. Yeah, great idea...

Just make a good mix. Slower base speed plus mask for the right feeling.

I would love to complete my collection...

That little bugger is one of my favorite mechs

We won't be seeing it not because of engine limitations... but because PGI announced the piranha as a clan 20 tonner which will serve its purpose as an answer to the "clans need a 20 tonner" argument by the players.

No, the Piranha is using its stock engine in MWO. It's not nerfed in that aspect.

It just didn't get an extended engine cap like other mechs in order to keep it in line (dem hardpoints).

It didn't get an extended engine cap because the rules that PGI set out five years ago determined that the Piranha would not get an increased engine cap.

Particularly, the rule that an engine may not exceed in rating 8.5 times the mech tonnage. For 20 tonners, this is 170. The fact that some mechs (Locust) got higher engine caps than this rule decrees is probably because those mechs suck without the extra speed.
