I couldn't decide whether to post this in general where people will actually see it, or in art where it technically belongs.
So I did both:
Go here:

Looks great, and with the proper application of hills, buildings, and riverbanks, it could be a really nice map. Akin to Polar, surely, but temperate climate.
I know most of the Gut-punch brawlers would hate it, but hey, you guys are getting an all-city map, so yeah.. Another open map would be nice..
Sadly, PGI is super-slow at delivering maps.. so I don't think this will see the light of day any time soon..

I think it would be a great addition. Very natural looking, without exaggerated features. Plenty of cover for those who know how to use it. Nothing obvious to NASCAR around. Count me in.
As a bonus it would give haters somthing new to hate.

It coud be a proxy battlefield (*cough* TUKAYYID *cough*).
But apart from that:
You know, strategic targets.
There could be a strategically valuable person hiding in one of those buildings.
Or some valuable data.
Or it's just a supposedly easy raid to plunder a tiny warehouse that happens to contain valuable stuff (say, some reactors or stuff) and then, whoops, some defenders were close enough to intercept.
Sci-Fi, even today, is not the mid-ages where you have to besiege some castle or such.
Some strategic target is somewhere at some time for some reason and you deploy troops to accomplish a goal regarding that target (destroy, capture, defend, whatever).
That might as well happen to be on a farm land.

True, but maybe some "Lurmbreaker" could be set up. Similar to what 6th proposes for PH here.

Instead we should be fighting on Planets that would be occupied by people since where there are people, there are strategic resources. Also instead of deserted factories, how about active and fully functional mech factories of fighting over a busy space port or somehthing, anything that at least hits at having strategic value.
I also wouldn't mind maps that looks more like real terrain one might encounter in Virgina or Europe or the Middle East, you know, normal, realistic looking stuff.

If there's nothing there wouldn't be easier to just nuke the area and move on? Or just to pass the planet if it has no value?
Aren't Mechs deployed to battle over stuff you might want to keep?

Would be a nice change
I also don't mind reusing assets, just that map making should happen in a more timely manner
Mmm
Had an idea about a battleship being repaired in port, with beach and underwater part for light Mechs
If that map ever gets picked up (in idea at least) I might bring mine alive in the same way
Not worried about me having to invest my free time however

I wonder why PGI can't take those templates that existed before and update them? That was a neat mission on really cool terrain because it had all of the stuff necessary to have a "smart fight."
Let's hope PGI takes the hint.
