even lrms would be a lot better if people couldnt hide forever behind invincible rocks, trees, buildings
it would force both teams to be less defensive and more aggressive because cover would be more limited
not having destructible terrain in MWO was a bad decision. even MW3 had destructible terrain like 20 years ago. you could blow up buildings, put craters in the ground with missiles, etc...
the destructible walls in incursion are proof it can be done.

but think about how it would drastically improve gameplay if you could blow up the rocks/trees/buildings mechs are hiding behind and force those mechs out of cover
PEOPLE MIGHT ACTUALLY HAVE TO MOVE INSTEAD OF HIDING IN ONE SPOT AND POKING

Then threads like "Waah there's not enough cover on maps PGI do something now not later" would go up 1000%.
I support this idea with maps currently as is though.

If they implement it to the extent that it would effect game play then good luck with the haters.

Supposedly, MW5 is supposed to have destructible terrain and buildings, but I doubt MWO will see such things any time soon, maaaybe if they ever decide to port to Unreal4 engine..
Otherwise, they would have to, yet again, redo every map in the game.
Personally, I would rather have them making new maps than redoing all the old ones again for the 50eth time.
But yeah.. since destructible terrain was promised/hinted at in the original MW5-turn-MWO teaser video, it's a long time overdue.
P.S.
OMG, TheSixthMessanger, FINALLY an idea of yours I can support!
Sadly, it's never happening, because PGI..

Yeah I had thought that too, easier to design new maps with the destructible terrain as part of the structure of them, and maybe do some replacing in older maps, but we got no destructible terrain at all in the generic new map, and not only do the resources of walls etc go mostly wasted in incursion, we don't even have any other "new" modes that incorporate these terrains and buildings specific to incursion. It is a bit sad, as the fact incursion maps play with all that bonus destructible terrain shows that it could be used a lot more in sparser positions throughout maps.

Russ: Relax minions. Mech packs will soothe them into a state of apathy. And throw in some cockpit bling via a event. Everything will be fine.

I hope PGI will just do a city map like this next year.

Imagine on a map, any map that a 20 ton mech with jump jets lands on top of a building.... How many building structues could support that amount of weight? (very few...) The mechs that do jump on structures should then "fall in" and with some, especially many story structures not get out unless they shoot themselves out with all sorts of damage.
Imagine shooting any missle technology, that is immediately armed, and hitting any cover immediately in from of you. It should detonate and cause you and your team splash damage and destroy that cover in some fashion. Ever see a 105 or 120mm tank rounds actually hit the cover when they thought the gun tube was going to clear a berm in a defilade position... Woo-hoo, that is really exciting.... Oh, I had to edit this, imagine that since we can destroy cover, that ballasitc rounds now can "pass through" some cover....i.e. shooting through buildings, structures and some earthwork as happens in the real world....
Imagine hiding under structure to protect yourself from Indirect Fire....shouldn't the structure collapse after somepoint on you !
How about on Frozen terrain, near Ice or Snow cliffs your ordance shooting up hill does not clear the hill? Where would all of the Ice and Snow go? On you....
A cool idea.

Because rubble beats Jenner. That's a good enough reason for me
Oh hell. I agreed with and even liked a post by The6thMessenger! That doesn't bode well.
Sorry people, Next week pgi will officially turn off the MWO servers forever.

Imagine if everything crumbled like the walls in Incursion. Sufficient firepower would degrade cover, meaning a given hiding place would eventually become a rubble-strewn patch of cleared terrain. Bridges. Rocks. And so on.
It'd do wonders for map dynamics if things fall apart.
