I would like to suggest the ability for simulator makers, (or just players) to implement as many controls as possible, I.E. ultra-dynamic mapping.
As an example, One set-up could be Rudder pedals for turning left/right (jump jet on depression of both), A throttle for the setting of movement speed, with a second throttle mapped to arm movement sensitivity. One joystick to control the movement of the arms, and another to control the movement of the torso.
Additionally, further buttons could be built onto something like an Arduino board to create a custom USB controller with a momentary switch for heat override, a toggle for power up/down, or any assortment of other things.
Finally, a ‘physics’ output stream that one could enable that could be mapped to actuators, allowing the cockpit assembly to be shaken, rolled or pitched as necessary.
I understand all of this is probably a huge pipe-dream, but support to create actual mech simulators in one’s home would be amazing, especially if it were tied into some sort of contest to design and document the many unique builds that would pop up, perhaps culminating in the winner being flown to PGI to meet the team and their design being posted on the web-site as the no-liability-stated or implied official D.I.Y. “Simpit” of MWO.

Dreamt of this since 1992 and my introduction to TTBT. Even going as far as a coolant vest and heat vents to mimic the heat levels in your 'mech. Multi-monitor support for control screens ala, http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__430270. The full Mechwarrior experience!!
Reading the BT novels, you just wish you could experience it. As we do not have 'mechs yet, will settle for the next best thing.

I'd personally have rudder pedals be set up so:
left = left
right = right
both = forward
and a button to switch into reverse (everything being effected by how much I push it so both down halfway would be half speed, one down all the way and the other not down at all would turn in place and so on)
I'd then have two joysticks for torso and arm aiming and all the other controls
left = left
right = right
both = forward
and a button to switch into reverse (everything being effected by how much I push it so both down halfway would be half speed, one down all the way and the other not down at all would turn in place and so on)
I'd then have two joysticks for torso and arm aiming and all the other controls

The whole point is that you could set it up how you wanted it though.

I'm not asking. I'm suggesting.
