Hello Folks

So as a new player looking to try some builds I was wondering if any of you could offer some advice or alternatives on the current Warhammer 6R loadout I'm looking to try. I haven't bought the mech yet, but going by the trial, I think it might currently work as a decent all rounder for solo play.

That will run hot as hell. Also 5 firegroups can be hard to manage in my experience. If you want to go energy i would probably drop the MRM (it adds a giant hitbox on the shoulder) and the MGs and use the tonnage for more heat sinks and a larger engine.

Let me know what you think!

Hotter than sin and conflicting ranges.

Consider:
SL or ER SLs in place of ER MLs. These have similar ranges to the HMGs and can be tied to the same group. Despite the particle effect (which is meaningless), MGs in general have identical hit mechanics as lasers.

This leaves your main heat outlier to be your ER PPCs. If you trade them for standard PPCs, you significantly reduce the heat you generate from using them.... at the cost of not being able to do damage with them at a range of less than 90 meters..

....the same range that HMGs and SLs excel at.

Keep the MRMs.

Go for a cooling efficiency goal of 39 or higher. 49 is ideal if you're not comfortable with managing heat.

For me it would be:

Removing the light ferro, mrm, ermed and hmg

Add 4 ersmall and 2 lmg 1t ammo in head, light engine 335

Remove 4 point of armor in each leg and fill all space and engine with Dheatsink for a total of 19.

35% heat efficiency hot but manageable and you keep the erppc.

Probably fun to play with, but i would prefer a bunch of medpulses with lmg and 2 erlarges

Speaking as a Warhammer fan and a fan of PPCs, it's hard to get Wammies and PPC to work. PPCs run hot and because of the weird convergence issues with any mech arm mounted weapons, you will be hitting the dirt allot. I would ether ditch the HMGs and ammo for heat sinks, make the PPCs torso mounted (medium lasers work fine in the arms, go figure) or trade in the PPC for something else and swap the HMG for LMG (range does you more favors than the small gain in damage)

6 MPLs + MRMs + 2 LMG would actually make for a decent brawler for the last half of a game if Skilled correctly.

Here we go. Boosted it up from the 32 to 39%.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6c2ec1e0e493730
  • Some head and a tiny bit of leg armor was converted to an extra half ton,
  • removed half a ton of extraneous MRM ammo (you will not be relying on an MRM 10 that much, it's good supplemental damage not a primary weapon).
  • Also removed an extra ton of HMG ammo. (its SUPER short range; you're not gonna use it THAT much),
  • and cut the ER SLs to SLs. (ER SLs still go out easily to almost 200 meters, great for pairing with LMGs but pretty unnecessary when pairing with HMGs; you'd just waste ammo with them firing together with ER SLs.)
Significantly colder. Duma5, Try your original build and then try this version and lemme know which you prefer. :)

(Firing group advice: PPCs on group 1. SL and HMGs on group 2. MRM on group 3; make sure group 3 is bound to something you can easily press). In fact I'll get this Warhammer and record a run with the build tomorrow. After that I might tweak it depending on if I feel the MRM-10 works or if I'd be better off with an SRM-6.

There's always the option to swap them for LPLs or Snubs.

That's what I have done but I don't want to force my own play style on others. I prefer the LPL but the SNPPC+ Ballistics has become a popular build with the 6R

I personally would pick between lasers and ballistics or lasers and missiles. The thing is, outside of rare cases, ive been unable to make 3 weapon combos work at all, especially when ur mixing a crazy variety of weapons, some with hitscan, varied velocity, variable ranges, ect. If you really want to use PPCs, i suggest regular or heavy PPCs since ERs are too hot to mix with anything else and the only way to make those work is dedicated double mount with at least 20 DHS total (more prefered if possible).

If you arent dead set on PPCs, you can try something like dual AC10/20, dual GR, and thats really taking advantage of the mech hardpoints moreso. 2MGs are wimpy, and you want 4-8 of them to really take advantage of the crits, so with just 2 ballistic hardpoints you are best off using larger cannons of some type. My prefered build is 2GR, 4ERML, 5tons ammo, stripped arms, and the largest LFE you can fit. Alternatively, dual AC10s with the same lasers is solid, just more focused on DPS then alfa strike and precision.

I ran twin HPPC/ twin SPPC, and was pretty happy with it, but I must admit that the most fun I've had in a heavy was jamming the twin heavy Gauss rifles into this thing. Blasting light mechs away in a single shot whilst their at full speed is just dirty fun. If you get a couple of buddies to bring HGRs as well, things can get pretty silly pretty quick. (i.e. EBJs being erased before they can even finish a CERLL burn.)

No, it's probably never going to be a meta build, but it is fun.

Let me know what you think!

MRM 10 rack is pointless, all it does for you is increasing hitbox size for RT. Drop it and light ferro use tonnage for more DHS,or you'll boil yourself on third salvo. HMGs are really personal choice, if they work for you fine, if not drop for more DHS. Or maybe switch to regular/light MGs. ERMLs are also very hot, watch you heatbar.

I'd suggest this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...44f118507b82f7c
Would require operations tree spec though.

Alrighty,

Thanks for all the advice guys. Taking it into consideration, this is what I've come up with.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...89e74ad1834b093

Replaces the ERPPCs & MRM with a pair of ERLL and a LBX10 w/ 2 tons ammo. and tacks on 3 MLs as back up.

So far its working pretty well, I can see why folks like the lasers over the PPC. Anyway with this build avg damage per game has gone up, at least for the half dozen I've played so far, it stays relatively cool, and it has the range to stay safe til its time to brawl.

Again, thanks for the help

I'm a Warhammer lover from the tabletop days (my miniature is an Unseen Warhammer), so naturally I latched on to it here.

My build is based on the -6R chassis. I dropped all the ammo based stuff, moved the PPCs to the rt and lt torsos and replaced them with ERs, paired a medium pulse with each one. A medium laser in each arm, upgraded the armor to ferro (maxed it out) and upgraded to double heat sinks. She still runs hot though.

I don't get a lot of kills with this loadout (could be my play style though), but I do get a ton of assists. And since this is a team game, assists are as important as kills in my opinion.

EDIT: I mis-spoke. I didn't use ER mediums, I used regular mediums.

Three different types of energy weapons. each with a different range, cooldoown and hit mechanics - not good. If you want to brawl, swap the ERPPCs to snubs or just switch to the 2xUAC10 build.

I was shooting for a general purpose build. The ability to snipe (with the PPCs) as well as getting into a brawl at knife fighting ranges. If I had to swap something out to make this a better build, I'd rather it be the mediums...either switching to all mediums or pulses.

My $0.02 is replace the ERPPCS with twin LPPCs, and HMGs with LMGs. An Ultra AC-5 may work well for you when paired with an MRM 10 or larger and ERMLs. Just try builds on the practice fields.
