I really don't understand the reasoning behind this as the Founders are already getting early access?

How dare they reward paying costumers....

Look Guys, and Gals, I am not saying that you shouldn't get what you paid for. I agree that since you Paid for the game you should be allowed early access. You spent the money, it is your right. Believe me I will be envious of all the Founders when the 7th comes and you all are playing the game. I, on the other hand, will have to wait until after they let us non-founders in. I am ok with that as I didn't invest in the founders package. I just wanted the Beta invites to be on a level playing field.

:::EDIT::: I was hoping that I was wrong in this matter but I see that I was not. I was not trying to start a fight just express my opinion.

The close beta has up to June 10 let anyone join. After that point they supposedly started transitioning to final hardware. At this point they started to sell the Founder packs. After that point they said that as a reward for the purchase of a Founder pack only founders will be given beta keys and all founders will be in by Aug 7th.

This is a relatively small company so the support that the founder packs provided probably provided the money or the reassurance to go ahead with the purchase of the production hardware.

I'm really not sure how this is unfair....

This is not a "I dropped $120.00 and I am entitled" thread. This was lets keep the field level thread. As I have said several times in this thread, yes you spent the money, yes you deserve early access, but no the Beta keys should not be limited to only Founders now.

If all you are getting from this tread is that he didn't spend the money he doesn't deserve it then you have missed the point entirely. If that was the case then it should not be considered a F2P game.

Your reward should be the early access and all the other things that come with your respective packages. It should not be that only Founders get Beta invites.

Yes.. and? That is entirely possible.. there were over 10,000 beta invites sent prior to founders packages even being available.

Uhmm.. what? What part of "this is a closed beta" don't you get? Open beta is where EVERYONE is invited.. release is where EVERYONE can play FOR FREE. In Closed Beta, the developers get to decide (fair or not) who gets in. Prior to the founders packs, there was 10,000+ beta keys given out, where EVERYONE had a chance based on the criteria they needed for actual testing.

Our reward, as far as early access is concerned, is GUARANTEED access on August 7th. That reward has not changed. The Closed Beta is still in effect and the developers have chosen to let in Founders as a preference over non-founders.. to FURTHER reward them. They wanted ALL FOUNDERS to be in BEFORE August 7th ORIGINALLY. That was not possible so the GUARANTEED date was pushed back. Now they are trying to still get ALL FOUNDERS in before that date like the ORIGINAL plan.

I totally understand what you are saying in regards to keeping the beta key invites on a level field.. but that's just not what is happening now because of what has happened over the last month or so.

This is STILL a F2P game.. it hasn't actually been released yet.. do you understand that?? It's still in CLOSED BETA.. do you understand the difference between CLOSED and OPEN???

Game is F2P. Founders Package just assures you Closed Beta access starting on 07 August 2012. I'm still waiting myself so what does that say to you?

Going off of the few posts I have seen about Founders and Beta keys lately, and I hope I am misinterpreting what I am reading, but it appears people are saying that as of now only the ones that bought the Founders packs are getting the Beta keys? Please tell me this is not the case. This is bothersome to me as I cannot afford the Founders packages at this time.

Ya know I don't feel sorry for anyone who cant afford the 30$. Stop eating out, renting movies and driving excessively so you don't need extra gas. call in favors from friends, look up all the punks that ow you money from back in the day, stop going over your minute cap on your cell phone (you know who you are), hell remove your 30$ unlimited txt feature for a month! There is no reason anyone over the age of 18 should not be able to generate 30$ easily... I mean theres still street corners right?

Life is not fair...that is that. The only fair thing in life is dying...because everything does that. So...we payed our monies and they are opening the doors to us cause of it. If you want to pay your monies, then the doors open for you also. *Shurg* Capitalism in action my friend.

I think its fair. Basically, before they were Founder's packages, they distributed the invites randomly. Then, when the Founder's package was launched, they started limiting random invites to Founders only, to encourage people to buy Founder's packages. I think that's perfectly within their rights, and hardly 'unfair'. After the closed beta launch on Aug 7th, where all the founders will get in, I'm pretty sure they're going back to releasing limited beta invites.

This is the ridicule I received due to trying to make my point. So because I try to make a point you want to treat me like a 3 year old. Yes I understand the game has not been released yet. Yes I understand the difference between Closed Beta and Open Beta. I must have missed the posting from the Dev's that said "Only Founders will receive Beta Keys" I do remember reading through the different Founders packages and while it did say you would be granted early access it never said ONLY Founders will get Closed Beta invites from this point forward. So, maybe I did miss that post.

Don't be a dick. I am supporting a family of 5 on 32K a year that doesn't leave much left over.

"Those servers are either arriving or being installed on July 10th, and that is when a massive increase in closed beta invites will be happening. Founders will be getting priority for those invites, regardless of when you applied for the beta or purchased the founders package or even which package you got (veterans are treated the same as us legendaries)."

"people are still getting some dates confused. My main developer update post should have made this clear.

We are going to our production hardware fairly soon which will signify moving into Beta 2 and we will have a lot more capacity. At this point we will start to invite in Founders purchasers at a pace we can handle.

Aug 7th is when the Founders are guaranteed to get access if they have not already. This is also when the injection of the founders Mech and other rewards are put into the game.

Aug 7th is not open beta

Open Beta will be sometime after Aug 7th...we have not announced an exact date yet."

Even free to play games need to make money. This has been in development for quite a while. Salaries have to be paid, hardware has to be purchased. The founder's program is a great influx of cash to help offset those startup costs and perhaps to prove to any potential investors that money can be made with this game.
The game is at the point where it needs serious people beating on it seriously. As has already been mentioned the only way to guarantee that is to let the people in that have proved their interest by spending money. You will have a much better rate of return for bug squashing and balancing than you would from random invites.
I'm not sure why you think anything called a 'beta' means its free-for-all and equal opportunity. Being a 'beta' isn't some magical thing. People are excluded from betas all the time due to hardware, location and the whim of the particular devs. Some of those considerations are also based on money: no slow machines, no laptops, etc, etc. Depends on what they are testing. Would you make the same amount of stink if they won't take anyone with an ATI card for this phase of the beta? Or if your processor was one month too old?
We paid for early access, which you so graciously granted we were due, and that is all we are getting. (Well, I haven't yet!)

Some people can't afford Founders packs- thats understandable. But right now, the Beta invites are all only going out to Founders it seems, and the 7th "semi-open access" are designed to make people want to buy a Founders pack. PGIs gotta make money too!

They also stated to have all founders in by next week, thus meaning this week, thus meaning more invites for non-founders :-D

Just to be Clear (JtbC):

You will be eligible for closed beta but only after the 7th if you are not a founder.

Then open beta happens and you are totally more than welcome.

And neither of these periods has ANYTHING TO DO WITH BEING IN NA. STOP SPREADING THIS FALSEHOOD!

The early beta tests involved everyone, including non-founders. This just happens to be the Founder's invite phase. They did not completely lock out Beta to non-founders if that was what you were thinking.

@ OP, there will be OPEN BETA. Just wait for it. By then everyone is invited, NDA lifted and whatnot.
