I'm not sure why, it seems inconsistent. I thought it was a feature... maybe it's a bug.

LOL. And no rewards because you rejoined too late?

I had the same a few weeks ago, hard carry and some friendly fire reduced match score to zero.
(arty strike dishing out short of 300 team damage )
But we won and had some decent laughs of it, while waiting for the vacation to end.

For months I had an issue where the game server would disconnect me at the beginning of FP matches. Even though I'd try to rejoin immediately, I couldn't re-connect within the 2 minute grace period.
So I'd play the entire 30 minute match, then get told at the end of the match there were no rewards for me because "I" had disconnected and "I" had failed to rejoin in time.
It would have cost me cumulatively tens of millions of C-Bills. I should have sent PGI an invoice for my time

Ouchie. I had a FP match like that. Dropped an arty and 2 severely damaged team mates rounded the corner.. 5 kills, 2 of them my team..

I just came out of a match where I got a match score of 7
and a penalty
so I removed all strikes from all my medium and light Mechs

i really wish pgi would color code the smoke so you know what team it belongs to. blue for blue red for red. because you either have to run into it or back off depending on what team it belongs to.

That only works if you assume it's an air strike.

with airstrikes you can kind of see the plane coming. however its possible to miss it if its out going, and this is going to be team damage if you walk into it. with arty it really doesnt matter whos it is, you see one of those your best bet is to get out of its area effect, which can be done in either direction. upon seeing smoke there are 4 possibilities (barring airstrikes from flankers or spotters off in the distance at an odd vector). if you see it and you dont see a plane its either a friendly airstrike going down range, or a friendly or hostile arty. the 4th, hostile airstrike, can be eliminated by seeing or not seeing the plane.
the thing to do with the incoming plane is obvious, walk into the smoke so that the bombs fall behind you instead of on top of you. its the other 3 where knowing who's smoke is whos becomes useful. without knowing, theres only a 1-in-3 chance that its a friendly airstrike. since your mech moves forward faster than reverse, its best to plow into that smoke and hope for the best, and one in 3 you evade damage. if the smoke was blue it would be 50/50 arty or airstrike, so i guess knowing really doesnt help much afterall. but still it might be worth it not to move foreward in that case, perhaps turning to the side is in order.
so i guess you are right, knowing isnt going to help that much, but i still think it would be a good asthetic, and do the same for uavs. in most other red vs blue type games things are much better marked and i think it would look better and eliminate some confusion.

off the top of my head I would say
the last thing anyone wants to do is air or arty strike there own team
in the 31 century you would think they would have intelligent strikes
that is if friendly Mechs enter within a certain range of the strike zone then the ordinance would not
go off
with a mechanic like that you eliminate friendly fire from strikes and you don't have to apply some penalty system
now it would be up to PGI to say if the strikes would be reset (if they did not go off)
I would say yes but I am biased (pay to win and all that)
while am at it a more precise/fun Mechanic for directing air and arty strikes is needed
(after all command wheel was implemented something similar for strikes could also be used)
Mechs with command console should have even more capability say command Mechs would be able to drop
strikes from up to three Mechs remotely (as long as the Mechs had the strikes installed)
(the MRBC/WC kill the command mech would really mean something same for VIP mode)
but that might be to immersive for this 1970's era game

Just saw your vid... Yeah, PGI's system has been getting really aggressive about Team Damage lately. It's either "Be Careful with your Strikes" or "Say GoodBye to your Match Score" now.
Also, I noticed this constant beeping tick going on through your vid. Any chance you could think about checking your system configuration, and/or perhaps running some kind of post-processing on the video to prevent nauseous background things like that from being uploaded with the A/V File, so that you would not have problems with the audio?
