Going to be brutally honest here.

I expect nothing. This way I can no longer be disappointed.

PGI promise a lot, but have repeatedly failed to deliver, particularly in the area of CW.

I can take nothing they say, at face value, especially at media hype days like Mechcon. It is not real until it is in the game.

IMO MWO is in maintenance mode until they can get most of their staff back from developing MW5. It is exceedingly obvious to me that MWO has been on the back burner since the announcement of MW5 and probably since before then.

This would be the best announcement they could make.

Other than that what I want to hear them announce would be any of the following:
They are making assaults in general tankier.
Lots of new maps
Music both in game and in the UI.
Buffing PPCs...
Them not nerfing anything.

Come on guys, Please keep the salt out of this thread.. Can't we have a single thread that is on topic with out all the bitter crap that PGI can read and perhaps add some info to their presentation.

I said a few times that an engine upgrade should go along with Solaris.. Maybe it is happening!

that theyre not going to do solaris. at all. ever.

I am not sure that you can anymore. Hope requires some sort of deliverance occasionally. I personally think some are past hope and well into blind faith. PGI have had big flashy presentations before showing what we were going to get. What we got was something completely different.

I hope for an announcement that they have completely redeveloped CW into something that has depth, balance and a reason to play. But past history shows that they have no clue how to achieve that and it is fast becoming apparent that they have given up even trying.

"Here's the MW5 playable demo, which is pretty good because we actually learned a lot from our first attempt at making a 'real' game. It'll be DRM free on launch, because we're cool that way. Also, since a substantial portion of MWO revenues have been quietly going into our 'F you money' legal fund for years we're in a position to both obtain a perpetual license and continue to defend the franchise from certain IP shenanigans."

Engine upgrade...sure but only if it actually comes with a big graphical overhaul and other improvements. Just changing the engine does nothing for the game in itself. If resources is spent on upgrading the engine but this doesn't lead to any actual improvements to the game, the development holdup could actually kill the game.

Co-op for MW5, this is a must for me to be interested at all. Single player games don't interest me much.

A Community Warfare that returns to the vision of having a strategic metagame on the map, resource management and tool for units and factions to grow, own assets, build and plan ahead in game. In other words the CW that was pitched to the founders. The dumbed down version we have now is a failure, the solution isn't more dumbing down and simplifying it is to return to the original vision.

As far as what we don't know yet, a tentative release date for MW5. Hopefully some time in 2018 and new maps.

For things we kind of know about already I'd like more info:
- Solaris
- Bolt on stuff
- Supply Cache rework (Particularly due to EA and Blizzard/Activision shenanigans)
- The new City Map
- Campaign details for MW5

Also lol at the unrealistic things people want and then will use to justify more hate. It's transparent and sad but also slightly amusing so carry on Posted Image

ps. As much as I'd like a engine switch announcement, I think that would be an unrealistic expectation. It won't bring people back to MWO that left because of butthurticus and might actually cause more to leave. If they DO do a engine switch, the best time to announce it would be the day before closed beta goes live.

I'd go further and say thay can't make a "closed beta" or anything of the sort for an engine switch.

The only way to successfully switch the engine with the player base intact is to do a full port + the improvements that allows and basically transfer everyones accounts with all their stuff fully retained to the new client without any downtime.

IS that realistic? No idea. But people who have grinded and payed a lot in MWO will absolutely not start from scratch in a new "MWO2", there won't be enough old players prepared to do that and not enough new players to base a new game on.

One thing PGI has been fairly good about though is that they are actually pretty generous towards their customers/players in terms of reimbursements, free stuff and so on. So I'm pretty confident that an engine switch would come with full retainment of user accounts and assets, there's just too much money poured into them.

What could potentially go wrong IMO is if the new client is released feature incomplete and without all the content ported at launch, which would essentially mean a downgrade from MWO in terms of features and content to begin with.

All in all it's a pretty sensitive operation to perform, It's also necessary if MWO is to have a future since the client is so outdated now, but yeah a lot could go wrong.

I just realised what my no1 wish for MW5 announcements is: FULL MOD SUPPORT!

PGI do this, work in the same spirit of other small game companies like Taleworlds (developer of Mount&Blade) , Creative Assembly etc, and invite the Battletech community to use your client to realise their dreams. Let them, encourage them!, to make their own campaigns, graphics enhancements, balance mods and whatever else they want and share freely on the steam workshop with your blessing and active support.

That would be how to make MW5 something truly great.

lol even then you're not safe. Remember back when they announced the roughneck they hyped it by telling us it was a type of 'mech they've never done before? Rumors swirled. What could Russ mean? IS Omnis? Quads? Who knows?! I expected nothing. I set the bar on the ground. And then PGI tunneled underneath it when they announced that this "never been done before" thing they were working on was just a chassis that they had just made up.

That they hired somebody competent in these areas of development:

1. Map design.
2. Game mode design.
3. Net-code and stability.
4. Balance.
5. Physics and Kinematics.

I'd just settle for Dev's that aren't out and out Clanbois in critical area's like mech design and balance.

Though I think I'd cartwheel for joy if they announced Paul Inouye's resignation
