If both games use same assets (which would be perfect) why not intergrate the game into MWO as a 59.99 add on single player campaign, and let us use our MWO mechs in it, also a bonus everyone who buys the game will be introduced to MWO, could even throw us a unique mech from beating the campaign or something and you wouldn’t have to worry about developing multiplayer or as much maps. Just a thought

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is already being made as a exclusive Single-Player game that is in no way connected to MWO whatsoever as of now.

Same 3D models, totally different game engine.

Plus dumping your MWO collection of mechs into a story driven campaign might just be a little OP. I can't see the classic trope of building your unit one mech and one pilot at a time if I can just pile 120 battlemechs into my tech shed whenever I want...

A big part of MW5's design is managing your unit, which includes purchasing, repairing, and selling mech variants. If you can just import your mech collection. It completely invalidates that. Besides two different engines. So they can't add them together.

MW5 is a campaign based around a Inner Sphere Merc unit from 3015 to 3049. A good portion of the MWO Mechs would not even exist in that time frame including all the Clans and all the IS Mech introduced from 3050 on.

Even if it was technically possible merging the two games just would not work because in MW5 you have to work to acquire new Mechs from salvage, black market or purchases. Having all your Mechs from MWO injected would completely destroy the goal of the game.

first MWO uses CryEngine3, where as MW5 is using UnrealEngine4,
so making it part of MWO would involve changing MW5s engine to use CryEngine3,
which isnt a good idea as MWOs CryEngine3 is extremely outdated, and wouldnt offer much in options,

also people have been asking for years that MWO move on to the UnrealEngine4,
and many more have been asking for a stand alone MW Title, which we are getting with MW5,
i dont think Making MW5 as part of MWO and CryEngine3 would do MW5 Justice, which is seems PGI Agrees,

personally im hoping its announced at MechCon,
that MWO will be moving to UnrealEngine4 some time next year,
thats what im hoping for anyway, ;)

NO to this because:

1) Different game engines

2) MW5 does not have clan mechs

3) MW5 does not have such mech customization like MWO

4) MW5 is a standalone game

5) Having your mechs in MW5 prevents PGI from selling MW5 mech packs... oh, i mean.. DLCs Posted Image

6) Let's face it.. MW5 will probably eventually end up being merged with MWO in some way.. but it's not gonna happen in a long long while..

Lets hope adoption of UE4 also leads to better decision making in terms of game balance. Regardless, MWO doesn't need UE4 it needs worthless mechs & weapons to actually be worth using.

Otherwise its latterly going to be lipstick on a pig

Wait wasnt mw5 set during clan invasion? i think first trailer shown clan dropships getting onto planet.

Also like i said, why not use mw5 to update mwo engine and throw our current collection into multiplayer portion of that game which then you offer for free with 60$ dlc campaign and further mech packs.

I'll just leave a part of the interview that pcgamer had with Russ about MW5 :

"...dense forests can now cover the battlefield since Piranha Games doesn't have to account for all the challenges of syncing up 24 different players over the internet like in MechWarrior Online."

I think that hoping for MW5 to get some sort of multiplayer is a very wishful and cool but hopeless cause. Wouldn't hold my breath for it. From experience how Russ and piggy acts we could rather say it's gonna be shekel fest full of DLC's, lootboxes (following the awful trends that are very popular these days) and unfulfilled promises (or half done promises). You can only eat up that much BS from one company.

Just enjoy MWO (like I do... well not that much these days, but still) and hope that when MW5 launches MWO doesn't get abandoned.
