Notes;
-Same speed as Summoner, higher mounts, relatively limited *Crit*space (From the looks of things).
-ECM config.
-Spider stickers, one of which says 'NOPE'.
-Higher mounts than the Nova Cat, 60% legs.
-Again, it's an omnimech.
Also, the pics we saw earlier hid the fourth SRM-6 pack, from the spoiled T-Shirt image. But this looks like something that will be a pretty big hit; can run quad SRM-6s+ECM, or Dual ERPPC with ECM. No JJs on any variants. Doubt it will have much in the way of quirks, like all Clan mechs.

The pod space is pretty good actually, giving you 29.5 tons to play with (4 hardwired DHS in the engine give you 33.5 tons of "effective" pod space).

Oh, exactly. Sadly, this all means my poor Nova Cats are gonna get ignored even harder than they already are. And I have even less of a reason to buy a Summoner, to boot.
Sorry, I meant crit space, btw.

How wonderful to know that finally Kerensky´s poor boys and gals can boat each three hardpoint types on a heavy.
(I am aware that 5E´s don´t make a medium laserboat, but thats what bigger lasers are made for. 6 missile hardpoints or 6 ballistic hardpoints give room for some evil combos too.
I am also aware that until now only the Summoner filled the 70 ton gap and just did not offer enough hardpoints for the meta. How nice to see that this most pressing, giant balance issue is now fixed.)
edit: Spelling and I just realized I forgot the NovaCat. Still bad news.

I whipped up a spreadsheet of the mech's layout to make theorycrafting easier.

Yikes.
Number+crit crunching? This thing can run dual Gauss (Poorly, apparently) with ECM, or twin ERLL+Gauss with ECM, or... A LOT of things with ECM, with the ECM not even causing that much impact to a loadout with how abysmal the LT HPs are. I might just buy the Ultimate for this thing, if I forget how badly the Thanatos burned me when I got that.

I think your math is off. My SSW says it's 29.5 free tons with light armor shaving (422 FF armor), 33.5 "effective" pod space with the 4 DHS. Still quite a lot.
And yes I have endo on there.

Oh snap, I'm not sure how that happened. I must've put the engine too small or something. Fixing it now.
It's fixed now.

I think one PGI-designed mech a year isn't the worst thing in the world, honestly. And I'd rather a PGI-designed thing than the addition of the freaking Annihilator, Hellspawn, and Uziel. All three of those were more baffling choices.

I think it is. Even worse, neither does this ugly thing fill a niche nor did anyone ask for it. It is like answering a question nobody asked.

And you're welcome to that opinion. I like it more than a lot of the half-assed mechs from the TRO materials. It shows the game still has room to grow instead of being shackled to just the lore for all of time.

when I saw the name Sun Spider my first thaughts were "great a Clan Spider, must buy", but checking the specs and concept art that is not the case'
From the name I was guessing a light or medium class Clan Tech Spider, a Spider IIC if you will, but despite the name it bears no simularity to the IS Spider which is a shame.
not huminoid, no Jump Jets, not especialy fast, and looks to be reasionably well armed, definately has little to do with the "real" Spider.
Every other Mech I was aware of (I have been corrected, but I was still disapointed to find out it was not a Clan Spider)which includes another Mech's name in its name is clearly a derivitave or evolution of that design, but the Sun Spider has nothing to do with the Spider
I could have forgiven all this if it was an octoped Mech but instead it is just another biped, 8 hardpoint (or 6 hardpoints+ECM if you buy the reinforcements) 81kph heavy Omnimech
If they had called it "Sun Scorpion" or "Spider Slayer" or looking at the concept art "Goliath Locust" anything not sugesting it is a decendant of the IS Spider Mech and I would have been much less disapointed.
I may look at it when it comes out for Cbills but I have plenty of 81kph Heavies
