I have minor mod experience from modifying games like Mech2/4/Mechcommander 2/fallout1/2, I'll just try and change weapon values or create my own weapons.
We need to form a MW5 mod Community, there are many people who have many things to offer to the game and just allowing them to implement their Model/Texture/Effect workings then there are sure to be huge changes.
I have the stuff to possibly remake the whole Mech2Mercs onto MW5 if it is easy to modify.

That's surprising. Last I heard they were allowing it, but not actually providing any support. I wonder if they'll use the Steam Workshop.

Yeah, the video showed steam workshop. If you think you will do modding reach out to Bryan, they may use community members to help design tools or decide what we need access to. Either way, reach out.

I'd expect to see Mechwarrior 5: Civil War if that happened.

Russ did say they were looking to "work with modders" but I don't remember him elaborating on what that meant.

Very short article on ign but if pgi isn't just giving us more bs things might look good. I'm still going to wait til retail and eventual sales. Pgi lost my trust on making a good game years ago.
