I'm getting a Piranha, will likely be the last mech I buy but it will be crazy fun. Solaris and comp mode I don't see the fun in, but if other people like it then why not...

i dont see how a horde mode would work unless they added like protomechs.

because even locusts will wreck you in large quantities

Stock loadouts and armor values may be a start?

But i still dont see that being viable in this game really. A tough horde in MWO is like 4 mechs lol.

After tonight's piss poor team matches in QP, can't wait until I'm the only one I need to worry about. Going to love running into some of the derp that was only on my team tonight.

30 seconds and they're dead...another win for me.

Of all the things PGI could have invested time and money into, they chose Solaris <sigh>.

So what is your take on Solaris? Are you excited? Does it sound cool? Or are you like me and feeling like its a game mode you will never play?

nope not excited at all

I have no interest in solaris. I duel 1vs1 and 2vs 1s all the time in sq and group q. Good waste of dev time but I guess some one paid them for it.

Another way to discourage team play and encourage super solo mindset? No thanks.

As someone who tries to be competitive at games, I can't wait for Solaris.

Potato farming has been good, but the most fun I have is near the end of a tight match, when it's 1v1 or 1v2, and it all comes down to mind games and torso twisting.

A lot of people aren't going to like Solaris, like the LRM boaters, and the peek-and-hiders. This in itself is a reason to like Solaris.

I have no interest in Solaris... ping of 350 makes dueling too hit and miss.

The mode I most enjoy is a good group vs group FP match. If PGI would invest time adding an economy and logistics to FP to make it more Eve-like, it could be great. The bones are there.

It could even serve as qualifying units for the WC, rather than have a separate competitive group queue.

1 v 1 will void of players in a few weeks.

It's way more meta driven, very little variety and bad players in bad builds will lose 95% of the time as opposed to 55-60%.

It will take less than a day for the entire mode to filter down to 2-3 chassis, or less. CWX 1v1 tourney banned flamers after 1 week, but they prob be on every build in Solaris so you can enjoy 2 'Mechs incapacitating each other for long periods of time instead of aiming and shooting.

You can already set up private matches and duel, with better games since you can agree to general build guidelines that keep games fresh. Some of the most fun I have had in the game has been doing stuff like that with trial 'Mechs, and there is zero chance the Solaris mode will ever recreate that type of match.

Solaris will probably end up more dead than comp queue.

I like it. I have played 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 in private matches and I like them. Not to play a lot of time, but some times it's nice, specially if you are on a losing streak with noobs that make you lose the games suiciding in the first 5 minutes of the game. No one else to blame for the loss.

Besides, it's something that is canon and in some of the books of Battletech. Remember Justin Xiang Allard in the Yen Lo Wang? yep, he made a name in the Solaris VII games, and I liked it.

No interest at all. It's just something for pgi to mess around with and probably get completely wrong.

I am looking forward to it.

Possibly as my main game mode but more likely something to do when QP gets boring and FP won't pop.

I can't wait for it, but I hope that the loading of a match will be fast as loading / wait times for 1 v 1 could kill this. If after one match I can get to another fast, or I don't feel the wait thanks to other means I think I will spend a lot of time in Solaris - not in the first division but that's the beauty of it. Divisions will give everybody a place.

A mode where I don't have to worry about "teammates" and might even face players who will force me to actually get good?

Where do I sign?

Only thing I'm worried about is PGI's idea of what mechs are good/bad.

yeha if they are as good as "rating mechs" as they rate players then good night sweet balance.

Here are my thoughts on Solaris7:

The good:

1) Yaay, new game mode!

2) Duncan Fisher is back!

3) 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 is good.

4) Mech cosmetics - hope some of them transfer into cool in-game stuff

The Bad:

1) Yaaay, new mode.. will split the playerbase even further.. will make getting a FP match even harder..

2) No free for all 1 vs 12 / 2 vs 12 mode.

3) So far seen mech cosmetics will mechs look ridiculous. I was hoping for simply boxes, like shoulder pads, cockpits and such.. putting an axe into a kodiak's hand is just silly. Especially since the axe is non functional. Its turning Solaris Mech combat into gimmicky Mortal combat..

4) Solaris will give rewards to top scorers every season.. How many times have the best T1 player spots changed hands? These rewards will always be given to the same people. Just like the same people win the WOTC every year..

5) Its a step towards making MWO even more Esporty, instead of making it less Esporty..

6) With solaris.. what's the point of Comp Play?

Well the people have wanted this for some time now. Solaris needs a lot of work in my opinion, the maps look terrible. It might be just me but I hope the vids of the maps were just place holders.

Solaris is pretty much the most fitting thing for this whole game, IMO should have started with it and do the rest of the stuff later. I'd just like lance vs lance matches there too.
