If you lose the FP game, you will need 2k plus damage. Simple as that.

Since score is divided across all fielded mechs, if you're down to your 4th mech your damage score will be divided by 4. If you didn't do any team damage/friendly fire, 2000 damage will get you 250MS (2000/4/2=250MS) minimum (win + 25MS, etc). However team damage, 1 TD = -1 MS at least (no one really knows the exact formula right now).

If you are able to stay alive with the 1st mech, esp if it's a laser vomit mech, the easiest way to get 250MS is indeed a ERLL vomit build and hiding at the back, let everyone else tank damage while you snipe from far. With so many enemies, you will get 1k damage easy and score well past the needed 250MS. Also bring alot of strikes. But if you're doing this, it's faster to go SSRM spam in Scouting. SSRM spam in Scout, even if you die and lose you will get your 250MS matches quicker than doing Invasion, simply from the damage farming and time spent in a match.

Or just avoid FP altogether. The high MS requirement is a hint to avoid FP unless you're really into it. The 150MS requirement in QP is the real giveaway event.

Just finished my 50 Faction Play games with a 250 score in scouting mode. It was brutal especially against premade groups. Just use streaks and reduce team damage. Also, try not to kill your opponent too quickly like destroying them from the rear CT.

Here are my stats for the 50 games.
-Won 90% of drops (high wins but can't hit a score of 250)
-Chance of success of scoring 250 and above: 62.5% (50/80)
-I was playing solo the whole time. Your chances goes way up playing in a premade group.
-fun fact. My highest damage score from 1 scouting match is 900+ damage in a kentaro 18. Lordfatman, stinger 01 and Nicolas675 can confirm since I did not take a screenshot.

Varients useful for scouting challanges
IS
Kintaro-18: 5 Streak 4s
Bushwacker-P1: 4 Streak 6
CLAN
Huntsman: 4 Streak 6s and 4 streak 2
Huntsman: with ATMs

Good luck guys and stay persistent. Now I need to do the Quick Play Challenges. 99 more of those games to go.

The faction play threshold is BS.

Has any event been this frustrating?

@Shi No Kami: I seem to recall that in the distant past there was some event where the criteria for success was that you had to win, survive AND score at least one kill in several (20?) matches. If my recollection is not entirely false, I played over 40 games and succeeded exactly ZERO times.

Would much prefer 200 matchscore for FP, so atleast scouting is a bit more viable on a loss.

Played around 8/9 matches, encountered the weirdest builds and teammates, hit 250 matchscore once.
Plenty of scores between 220 and 247, ofcourse.

Scouting is not supposed to be a viable way to obtain the bags. Invasion is.

It's viable in the list and takes a lot less time than trying to get 250 in invasion matches which can last half a lifetime.
Sadly, Anatidaephobia has it right. It's actually easier to get 250 in Scouting, although not by much, than in Invasion still. Why? Well, arcana75's posting says a lot in that regard...

...because PGI has failed to take into account the docking to a player's Match Score if any of that player's Mechs are lost in battle against the enemy team. Effectively, PGI needs to avoid docking more than a maximum of 20% of a player's Match Score in Invasion, and even then ONLY if the last Mech in the player's Drop Deck is downed, simply in order to stop people walking away from Faction Warfare's Invasion Mode. Right now, requiring 250 Match Score to earn Loot Bags, while docking heavily for every single lost Mech in Faction Invasion, is causing extreme gaming by some players of the system and mechanics. Everyone else, in the meanwhile, has to suffer and do without Loot Bags, which will then cause them to all go back to Scouting (or worse, back to Quick Play) instead, which will kill Faction Warfare, directly due to the lack of Match Score damage involved in having only one Mech to lose on a given battle. It's rather unfortunate, but Matt Newman's attempt with the 250 Match Score requirement for earning Loot Bags, in order to try to make everyone go to Invasion, is backfiring on itself directly due to the multiple Match Score docking from every single Mech death in Invasion. We can only hope that PGI's Staff notices this and puts out a HotFix quickly to stop the massive Match Score loss, or a fair chunk of the "2017-2018 Stocking Stuffer III Holiday Loot Bag Event" is going to be considered a huge failure by a fair chunk of the MWO Community. :(

Actually, the best way for PGI to sit up and take notice is to NOT attempt the FP event. With low numbers players in FP and a dearth of players clocking in successful attempts in the Faction Play Stocking Stuffer event, they'll realise setting such an event in such a form doesn't work.

If we all let 0/50 be a thing this time round, PGI will take notice.

You don't *have* to play...

In fact you can get two Hero mechs (AND A CRAP TON OF OTHER SWAG) by playing one freaking game in a 36 hour period... So they make a third mech challenging, is that REALLY so bad?

Okay, got it...

All I have to do now is go complain to Blizzard about all the years I played and they never made it easy to get endgame content.

...or made us camp for a freaking Time-lost Drake mount...

...or jump through ridiculous hoops to finish off achievements...

I'm not saying it isn't a grind, I am not saying it is easy, what I am saying is that just because it might be too hard for some does not mean it is simply too hard. There is nothing in the MWO ToC that states "all free swag must be obtainable by all pilots regardless of circumstances"

My point is, you get 5% from a code (7 days premium time) 55% of the swag for just playing one game (2 hero mechs, MC, Loot bags, etc), another 20% for QP games (loot bags), 20% for FP games, and 10% for that one free mech that is indistinguishable from a store bought model.

Seriously, if it were unique, then perhaps I could understand the outrage a bit more... but if you ground out the 100 QP matches (w/ 7 days free premium time + lootbag CBills) you could buy whichever one you want + a mechbay (MC from lootbag, on sale for 150MC) and tell everyone you earned it and no one would be able to tell.

Seriously there is so much free/easy swag, just let something be challenging okay?

As someone who likes challenges in games, i have to say that the match score requirement is kinda ********.

considering that the most efficient way to win a game is to deal pinpoint damage to the same location, it really makes no sense to require 2k damage in order to get the required match score needed in case of a loss.

It actually forces you to play in weird ways and is also bad for teamplay, as damaging an opponent instead of killing him quickly to potentialy save an ally means you are less likely to get a reward.

if objectives and assists/scouting would give much more score, it would be a lot better than it is now already.
