I bought this mech for the Tharkad event, and then struggled to make it useful in Scouting before giving up. After going through a number of LRM/SSRM/SRM iterations, I've finally found something that works for me.
4 MRM 10
3 tons ammo
1 medium pulse laser
1 flamer
ECM
Stealth Armor
4 JJs
Std 260 engine
I originally had more ammo and fewer JJs, but I have never run out of ammo in QP, and 4 JJ vs 3 is a noticeable difference. With the high MRM mounts, this build can pop-tart pretty well.
Stealth armor is situational, but can occasionally prevent damage in a confused melee or from LRMs. The flamer is nice if a laser vomit mech gets up close.
4x MRM10 and 1x MRM40 are the two most tonnage-efficient MRM options, and 4 MRM10s splits firepower so that one crit doesn't knock out my main punch.
This build probably isn't for everyone, but it works for me.

Yes, the ECM variant. I guess I can't edit the thread title.

Is there any reason that 4MRM10 is better than 1MRM40?
Genuine question, as I haven't found any reason not to use the 40 at any opportunity. Seems the best of the MRMS in terms of weight to output efficiency.

Additionally, 4x10 has twice the component health of 1x40 and requires four separate crits before being taken out fully.

Yes, splitting firepower was the main reason.
I was never quite happy with this, and right now my Griffin has an ER PPC and LRM 20, nothing else. A larger engine helps it stay at range.
