Spotlight/flood lights
Satelite dishes
Radar arms
antennas
exhaust ports
'beaten' armor like the resistance mechs
rebar sections (like the resistance mechs)
modified weapon appearance (still identifiable and no changes to hit boxes, just subtle differences, cooling ports for the PPCs etc)

An UAV dock in the back slot like the one shown in the old "what were to be Mechwarrior 5" trailer would be nice

Mechs with tops hats and mustaches is kinda drawing a line for me. Id probably uninstall after that honestly. When games start doing that kinda stuff it usually a sign death is around the corner.

To be fair, with this sort of logic, Solaris is already going to be a death knell.

i think what Revis is talking about is cosmetics that dont fit with the world,
like Top Hats, Monocles, Party Hats, Big Red Ribbons, that wouldnt have been on a BattleMech,
Swards, Spikes, Armor Plates, Claws, even Cloth Capes fit with the feel of BattleTech,
as long as the Theme is kept in the Spirit of BattleTech it will turn out good,
a Davion Nobles Silver and Gold AS7 could work with a maroon Cape,
just as as a Merc using a tattered Cape to hide his SHD missing Arm,

I don't see why a dummy non-functional undersized comical-looking medieval axe held by a mech can be seen as "realistic" for the game
and not an actual fully-functional industrial drill as a weapon...

im pretty sure its an animation limitation, much like knockdowns were,
a mech would fall down, then suddenly appear(teleport) on its belly and get back up,
just think in order to do a melee strike,
all your weapons would have to be locked out for the duration of the animation,
other wise it wouldnt look to good from an animation and immersion perspective,

well as a programer my self i know how they would work,
a weapon with just short range more or less and an animation,
but i dont think it would look good if you could fire your weapons wail doing a melee attack,
it would be the same if you played a game and fired your weapon in the middle or a baronet charge,
it just wouldnt look right, which is why i said doing a melee attack should lock your weapons for the animation,
which most likely would be 1-2 seconds at most, i dont see this as being a problem,
