They kind of glossed over the whole Division thing. Also, they used the word Division, not Tier. So who knows if Tier really references your Elo level. Hopefully that means eventually the 20/1 win players will only be playing fellow 20/1 players. So those that are breaking even will not have to face them. We still really can only guess what the S7 D5 Box next to the mech means. But, I think the D5 box means Division 5 for Yen Lo.
As for Elo used in 1v1 or 2v2...seems appropriate for that use. I mean, you get to choose if you want to CARRY HARDER a single lower Elo person for 2v2. If you win or lose, it is completely on you.
Still hoping for a Urbie only Division. I’m sure that will entice some of the “No way in hell” people. Who wouldn’t love to play Urbie v Urbie that can get you money, XP, and whatever those ACC points will let you get.
HOLY SHAZBOT! Did I just actually defend them???
People are defiantly mixing up ideas with mismatched terms.
Mechs are assigned to DIVISIONS. Tier is irrelevant as are Mech Tiers as each mech is placed into a Division based on specific attributes.
The mechs are assigned to each Division based on parameters not released to us yet.
The ONLY two things we know for sure about Divisions is that all players can participate in any Division and Divisions do not have weight limitations.
Restating what Kodiak said, ELO is being used in the following way:
1v1: Highest ELO will match with each other WITHIN a Division
2v2: Lowest ELO on the TEAM will be used for Divisional match making.
I for one would love to see an Urbie Division. Maybe there can be some overlapping love with the Event Widget in game now where S7 could have a special Urbie Division event or something.
I'm glad they went back to ELO for the 1v1 and 2v2. Too many folks out here think they are Kerensky's Gift to mech combat just because they are T1 in QP. I look forward to seeing how many unknowns end up doing well in the arena.
