I'm skipping all IS heavies and assaults at this time after getting hosed on the Thanatos. Plenty of people gave warning, but I thought, "they've just got to quirk those STs". Riiiiiggghhhhttttt.

If PGI had just asked me for tree-fiddy I would've given it to them without even asking for a mechpack......

Engine cap of 325?

I'll pass on this one.

Too immobile... no data about quirks or maneuverability.

Too little info to know if it's worth driving.

That's one of my main beefs with the current setup. There's such a loooong time between the pre-order announcement and when it actually drops in-game, even for the people that pay up. If you don't pay up then it's even longer. It would be a lot nicer if the gap between order date and in-game drop was a lot shorter, or perhaps not evening having a gap (available immediately for $$$).

Problem is that of course PGI's schedule is perpetually backed up and can never be adjusted in the current system. Do you member the time (beta) when PGI released a mech for C-Bills in the same month that it was revealed? Pepperidge Farm members.

I think it looks cool, so I'm in. I love Assaults with subwoofers.

Unless they nerf the Cyclops. You know, for balance...

Don't worry, they'll only nerf the Sleipnir, since the sales are over. ;)

I'm not excited with it, mostly because of tech imbalance

Some variants have ECM so I have very low expectations for quirks/agility

Dakka will be better on annihilator simply due to hardpoint count and armor, selepnir has better geometry for the 4 UAC5s build (which is outclassed by the Mad Cat MKII B and KDK-3's 2xUAC10+2xUAC5 most of the time anyway)

IS gauss vomit in torsos is lol compared to arm gauss vomit clan mechs

Pass from me

Well there is the 6U with arm ballistics

FAFNIR! You all have been waiting for this 100t gaint death machine, the GOD and birthright of the heavy gauss rifle.

But whats your first impression? Is it worth the pre-order? will it again be a gaint fiasco like the nightstar? (and every IS mech release since the past months, ofcourse clans have no issue here)

HUGE side torsos that you cannot help but focus on and way too slow. Not good enough to defend, not fast enough to attack. Thanks but no thanks.

Fafnir will have no issue defending certain maps such as Vitric, Sulfurous, Hellebore, and Taiga. Besides, big armor quirks on par with Annihilator are guaranteed, due to its huge STs.

Anni is not DOA, despite people's criticism, they should wait it out.

Might not be terrible for a quad lb10x setup but not super inspring all around.

My analysis is that the Mech still isn't mentioned in the "pop culture" section of the Fafnir Wiki page, despite several obscure games being cited there as having a mere passing mention of the name.

It can't do quad LBX since the ballistic mounts are not spread out on both the torsi and the arms. Best it can do is either quad UAC5, or a pair of H/Gauss.
